Buying my first V7: Low mileage '09 vs. High mileage '20?
Hey guys, after months of lusting over a V7, I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. I have two local secondhand options that fit my budget perfectly, but I'm torn between them and could use some advice.
2009 V7 Classic. Only 10,000 km. It comes with a 1-year dealer warranty. It obviously hasn't seen much use, which is nice, but I also know a bike sitting around for 15 years can sometimes be a red flag.
2020 V7 III Special. 40,000 km. It’s the last model before the switch to the 850. It’s got way more miles, but it looks pristine and the seller has receipts proving they just did a major service (brand new tires, brakes, battery, all fluids).
I'm leaning slightly toward the 2020 because having the 6-speed gearbox, ABS, and traction control seems like a big upgrade. But honestly, the 40k kilometers on the odometer is giving me a bit of pause compared to the '09. The '09 also looks slightly better to me, with its grey cast engine vs the blacked out engine on the later models.
