Valsalva Maneuver Postpartum
Hi! I was wondering if anyone has returned to powerlifting postpartum and has any insight on how best to brace. For context, I lifted here and there throughout pregnancy but adjusted my breathing/ bracing to ”hug the baby” while exhaling on the eccentric portion of the lift. Postpartum, my pelvic floor PT says I have some minor diastasis recti. It’s been a few months and I feel that the separation has decreased. Is it now “safe” for me to return to using the valsalva maneuver to brace while lifting?
