Do athletes actually track their development properly?

I’ve been thinking about how much athletes train over months and years, but how little of that progress is actually recorded.
A lot of development happens through small improvements, a skill gets better, weaknesses get identified, coaches give feedback — but after a while it’s easy to lose track of what has changed and what still needs work.
I’m interested to know how athletes and coaches here currently keep track of development.
Do you use:
Training journals?
Videos?
Spreadsheets?
Notes after sessions?
Nothing at all?
Would love to hear what works (and what doesn’t).
