DO senior, high 230s Step 2 score, chances of IM?

I just got my Step 2 score back today and scored in the high 230’s. Which is ~10 points lower than my NBME averages/Amboss predicted score. Not sure what happened, but I got got on test day, I guess.

I’m pretty bummed out about it. Still waiting on my COMLEX score to result.

Will I be solid for matching into IM? I feel like my chance with academic programs is pretty slim. Should I just focus on community and university affiliated programs?

Apologies if this seems neurotic or otherwise. Just pretty bummed out and gutted right now. Thank you all for the help.

Level 2 chance of scoring 500+?

Hey y'all,

Taking Level 2 this week (took Step 2 last week).

I've taken COMSAE 113, 114, and 115 and my scores have been between 460-480.

My NBME average was in the mid-240's. No score yet, but hoping for 240+ on Step 2. I am planning to apply IM.

I've used Amboss for everything (Step and Comlex prep) and I'm ~90% through it all with ~70% correct.

I'll be totally happy with a 500+, just curious if y'all think this is attainable? Never cracked 500 on a COMSAE. I hate this exam.

Permanent crown placed. Lots of pain and sensitivity.

I had a permanent crown placed 3 days ago.

When they took the temporary crown off & blasted my tooth with air to dry it off it was 8-9/10 pain for me. Like an ice pick in the jaw. That whole day was painful and NSAIDs barely touched it.

Through the weekend, things calmed down some, but since Friday I’ve had pretty consistent sensitivity to hot & cold and a fair amount of 6-7/10 pain (that is brought to 3-4/10 with NSAIDs). The pain also lingers for quite some time. Well beyond 5 minutes in many cases, unless I’m stay on top of the NSAIDs.

I do not believe this is a bite issue, but I’m seeing my dentist in two days to have it assessed. The bite was pretty perfect on Friday.

I’m worried I might be headed towards a root canal and was just curious what anyone might think.

I do not drink nor smoke nor have any underlying medical issues.

Thanks very much in advance for the help.

DO student who planned to take Step 2. Friend passed this week. Do I really need Step 2 for IM?

Hey y'all,

I just got some not so great news that a very dear friend of mine passed away suddenly the other day. Still processing it and just completely gutted.

I was planning to take Step 2 this Saturday, but I am likely going to push my exam, or maybe not even take it at all, I am not sure.

I passed Comlex 1 (didn't take Step 1) and my prep for Step 2 was going well (NBMEs in the 240s-250s), but I am just completely and utterly gutted right now. The thought of sitting for Step 2 is beyond me at this moment in time.

Trying to decide if Step 2 is really all that necessary for IM residency? If I don't test Saturday, I'll be out of my eligibility window for Step and will have to repay/reapply or whatever that process is while also having to navigate taking it while doing Sub-I's which sounds miserable.

Anyways, TL;DR, how necessary is Step for IM? Academic IM was a long-shot for me anyways and I am totally cool with ending up at a good community program or a university affiliated community program.

Thanks y'all.

Friend of mine passed away. Exam in a week. Don’t know what to do.

Pretty much the title.

At a complete loss for words. Completely devastated.

Don’t know what to do.

Edit: Just wanted to thank everyone who responded with such kind words. Hug your loved ones and remind them that you love them. Don’t let this exam rat race distract you from what’s really the most important thing in life.
