Starting to hate this job. Is this normal, or is my branch just that bad?
Side note- i’m a detailer btw for a home city branch and have been here for almost 4 years.
I’ve been with Enterprise for a while now, and I’m honestly getting to the point where I dread coming into work.
I don’t feel like I get paid enough for everything we’re expected to do. We’re constantly overworked, and it feels like we’re expected to just deal with whatever comes through the door.
One of my biggest frustrations is that management almost never charges customers for smoked-out cars or vehicles with excessive pet hair. We have signs posted about cleaning fees, customers sign the agreements, and then when they bring the cars back completely trashed… nothing happens. I’m expected to clean it up anyway, even when it takes hours.
I also got shorted on a pay raise. Our group’s pay cap increased, and from my understanding I was supposed to receive a raise because of that, but I never did. I’ve brought it up, and nothing has really come from it.
During the recent heat wave, we were told that if we wanted bottled water, we had to buy it ourselves. We all chipped in and bought cases of water, but management ended up drinking almost half of it. When we asked if they could replace what they drank, they said no. That honestly rubbed me the wrong way considering we were the ones outside in the heat all day.
To make things worse, I recently found out my manager clocked me out for lunch breaks that I never actually took, which resulted in me losing pay. Payroll had already been processed by the time I noticed it.
I’m just feeling completely burned out. I don’t mind working hard, but it feels like I’m constantly expected to do more while getting very little support.
So I’m wondering:
Is this how Enterprise is everywhere, or is my branch just poorly managed?
Does your branch actually charge customers for smoke or excessive pet hair?
Has anyone else had issues with promised raises not happening?
Has anyone dealt with managers changing your time punches?
Would you stick it out, try transferring to another branch, or just start looking elsewhere?
I’m genuinely curious because I don’t know if this is just my branch or if this is what working at Enterprise is like everywhere.
