State of the Game in 2026?

I've not played paintball in around 20 years. I started in 1985, and played right up until 2005. The first paintball gun I owned was a stock PGP pistol. I upgraded to a VM-68 black/silver as soon as they came out. By the time I finished, I had a chrome Shocker II (shoebox) electric semi, and a Phantom SCP pump.

I used to be very much into it, and at that time airsoft was in its infancy. Now it seems that everything is all about the airsoft. There are airsoft fields all around me, and I rarely see any advertising for paintball anymore.

Has the game been struggling everywhere, or is it just locally to me that it seems to have taken a dip?

Clearly there's still some money in the game, because of all of the amazing gear I'm seeing posted here.

Paintball Manager Computer Games

I used to play a lot of paintball back in the day and wrote a handful of old Shareware paintball computer games. Two of the more popular ones were called Paintball Manager and Paintball Manager Extreme. I just realised they're over 20yrs old now.

Just wondering if anyone remembers them - after seeing a post in this group from a few years ago asking about details. I genuinely don't know how popular they were, and it was a long time ago, so I won't be too concerned if they've vanished into obscurity.

You didn't play first-person or anything. You managed your team, chose your lineup and tactics, upgraded your gear, trained your players, etc, and the games played out in (more or less) real time as you watched from above in 2D.
