Charlie has a new “trick.”

Well, over the last month or so, Charlie has learned to jump into my arms for a treat like Gustine did. However, they’ve now taken it to a new level.

Was sitting on my steps, as I often do, when—out of nowhere—Charlie managed to sneak up on me and jumped right onto my shoulder to get my attention. I barely had time to get a photo.

Today it happened again, but stuck around, not only for a decent photo, but then, after receiving the expected treat, just sat in my lap with it for a few minutes, exploring my hands and sniffing around. Definitely strange.

When Charlie wants a treat RIGHT NOW!

Yes…walnuts were offered. Squirrel Toll for my deck paid for another hour…

My new visitor still isn’t quite sure what to make of me.

The tilted head just slays me… they’re the only one of mine that does that.

They’re a little braver when Charlie is there, too; the other day, this one was on one side of me while Charlie was on the other - they even took a nut from me after a similar head tilt and a couple of false starts.

…and Gustine was sitting on the railing, waiting for me to open it. Which was surprising, since she hasn’t really been around much lately—I’ll see her once every 4 or 5 days or so.

I opened the box and bag for her to let her choose whatever she wanted, but she kept looking at me, as if to say, “Serve me, hooman!” So, I took one of each nut out and held them out in my hand for her.

She chose the almond.
