They’ll probably reveal more stuff for Momo and the other characters later. I’m never gonna play this game but seeing the artwork is pretty interesting.

Ken “don’t you dare hurt the girl I love” Takakura

Even without powers, while getting beaten up and nearly passing out, he still has the strength to threaten anyone who messes with Momo.

People in that sub always say Okarun should give up on Momo now that things are getting difficult, but I love how Tatsu has always made a point of showing that he would never abandon her for his own benefit. He would rather sacrifice himself and get hurt in her place than leave her behind.

I think we’re going to get another moment like Danmara, with Okarun accessing new powers and pushing past his limits to protect Momo. As we already know, he’s said multiple times that for her, he’d even become a monster.

*posting this here because i wanna see the difference in reactions between this sub and the folk sub lol

Is Okarun not able to use the Oni Club?

It’s strange because he didn’t seem to have any trouble using it even when he was far from Momo.

It could also just be that he’s waiting to see if the fight actually happens, but I don’t know… it would make more sense to activate it right away instead of waiting.

Momo is going to lose Okarun, and Okarun is going to lose his friends.

The manga started with Momo asking the universe to find her own Ken Takakura, while Okarun was an outcast who only wanted friends (It even took him a while to realize Momo was cute because the only thing that mattered to him was that he finally had a cool friend) I think the point of the current arc is to make both of them lose the thing they wanted the most.

Imo, Tatsu is clearly trying to push Okarun to the absolute lowest point possible, slowly and realistically bringing back all of his insecurities so that eventually he makes some drastic decision, like distancing himself from the group or surrendering himself to the villains.

  1. Ever since Danmanra, he’s felt useless because he realized just how dependent he had been on Turbo Granny’s powers

  2. During the amnesia arc, Okarun repeatedly suggests that Momo should stay close to Jiji and Aira instead of him because it would be safer.

Right now, he’s in the most emotionally vulnerable and manipulable state he’s ever been in throughout the entire series, which also explains why he believed Aira so easily.

In his mind, he lost Momo, lost his best friend (because if Jiji really is dating Momo, Okarun would definitely distance himself to avoid getting hurt), and now the other person closest to him just confessed and tried to kiss him, which will push him even further away because he’ll feel guilty for not noticing her feelings sooner and for “playing around” with both her and Momo for so long.

Almost everything Okarun has done in the manga so far has been for other people. Now that he feels alone again, it’ll be much easier for him to simply give himself up so he won’t be a burden instead of staying strong and continuing to fight

*His power also seems to be something special, especially since he’s apparently the only one capable of using the Oni Club for some reason. I’m really excited to find out what Tatsu is preparing

Okarun still loves ONLY Momo, and he made that very clear in all the internal monologues he had during this arc.

Imo, his lack of reaction in the last chapter is because he’s partially broken.

Think about it: he “lost” Momo, who now sees him as a creep (we know she loves Okarun and has been thinking about him this whole time, but he doesn’t know that). He also “lost” his best friend, since from his perspective Momo and Jiji are dating, so he’d probably distance himself to avoid getting hurt. And now the only person truly close to him left confesses and tries to kiss him, which shocks him because he never imagined someone like her could love him, so he never took her advances seriously, but now things start to make sense.

Knowing Okarun, he’d probably feel guilty for playing with Aira’s feelings for so long and for feeding into Momo’s insecurities. He’s definitely not the kind of guy who would say, “oh, you weren’t the one I wanted, but if you’re what’s left, that’s fine"

I still think Tatsu’s goal is to make Okarun feel so lost that he ends up making some stupid decision, like surrendering himself to the Black Paladins to avoid more fights, and saying he never liked Momo/never considered the gang his friends to try to ease their guilt (Pinocchio). Then we’d get a rescue arc or something like that.

Okarun went from being determined and saying things like ‘you don’t remember, but you loved me too’ to doubting himself and thinking it’s possible that Momo might be dating Jiji.

Which actually makes sense from his POV, Momo called him a creep and said she would never go out with someone like him, but now she’s holding hands with Jiji.

Tatsu is pushing Okarun toward the worst possible scenario. I just hope he doesn’t end up getting kidnapped before he sorts out these feelings...

I don’t know Japanese, but I asked ChatGPT to translate it:

Ayase: “Hey… Isn’t it about time you paid some attention to your cute girlfriend? I mean, it’s Golden Week and all…”

Okarun: “W-wait—”

Ayase: Hmph!

Okarun: “Ayase-san, wait—…!”

Okarun: “Huh? Ayase-san…?”

Ayase: “I don’t know, I don’t know! I don’t care about ‘Okarun’ anymore!”

Ayase: Hmph

Okarun: grabs her

Ayase: “Mm…”

Okarun: “…You’re the one who started this, you know. So take responsibility.”

The theme of forgetting had already been explored, first with Kouki’s pygmies and then with Momo herself. At first, it was meant to break Momo’s spirit, making her fear being forgotten by everyone she loves, and now it seems like it’s meant to break Okarun’s spirit.

Tatsu implied that only people with strong spiritual power would be able to remember her. At the time, I was unsure because Okarun was weak and had just lost Turbo Granny’s powers, but now things seem to make more sense, since at that point he most likely already had the power of “The Adventures of Pinocchio.”

I also think that’s what shocked CSG so much in chapter 169, and coincidentally, after that he openly said he wanted to be an ally of “Takakura-sama and his friends,” which makes me think that Okarun has an ability that can’t be stolen, he needs to cooperate. That’s why I think CSG wants him as an ally, and that the Black Knights want to kidnap him.
