Will we be phased out?

I recently read an article that said Mayo Clinic was doing away with RT at night. Do you think other hospital systems will file suit? Do you see RT coming to an end in the near future? Should I go back to school and study another career as a back up to RT? I love being an RT and would hate for the career to end.

Specializing in NICU

Hello I’m an RT with 15 years experience in all facets of respiratory including Nicu. Has anyone ever been drawn to Nicu and wanted to specialize in caring for neonates? I find working with neonates to be rewarding and fulfilling. I would like to take my NPS and other neonatal certifications to become an expert with neonates.

First ENT scope done today

I’m a 43/m and have been having some voice issues/hoarseness/throat clearing over the last month or so. I decided to get in with and ENT. He did a scoping procedure and everything looked good minus my adenoid. He said it was red/swollen and likely contributing to my post nasal drip that has been pooling by my vocal cords. He put me on a 10 day course of antibiotics and wants to repeat the scoping in a month. I have done some reading and learned that it’s more rare for adults to have adenoid tissue. I do have an extensive history of allergies and get allergy shots once a month. I did read that rarely this could be a sign of sinus cancer or lymphoma which has me worried. I did ask him if he thinks it’s malignant and he flat out said no. I am trusting his judgement that he knows what he’s talking about. Any other adults here have adenoid issues or surgery to remove the adenoid? He said that if the antibiotics don’t clear this up that’s the next step.

Daily PVCs continue

Does anyone out there have a feeling of Two beats and a PVC? (Trigeminy) I will randomly get this feeling throughout the day. It’s a really weird sensation and I can even feel a forceful thud in my stomach. I have had many tests including ekg, stress test, blood labs, chest X-ray, holter, and echocardiogram. All tests come back negative.
