Hammer drill bit steel

I have quite a few used hammer drill bits with carbide tips.

What's most probable steel they are made of? I assume it doesn't need to be some super strong alloy since the carbide tip does the hard work, but it shouldn't be mild steel either because it needs to take the frequent impacts of the drilling.

Wing tip stall

How do I avoid wing tip stall on planes with straight wings, or wings with somewhat uniform width? It seems to me that my only planes without this issue are some type of delta wings, or at least short wings with wide base

Current progress on my longsword project. I need to make a new pommel nut because the previous one broke, heat treat the blade, add twisted silver wire to the handle and grind and polish everything.

The point of balance is just at the root of the lugs on the blade, about 10cm from the crossguard. Is that a good place for such sword? The blade length is 100cm, overall about 130, but it feels a bit heavy.
