Content farming is not allowed here
I hate that I have to do this, and I feel obnoxious posting it in a bunch of threads, but it’s come to a point where it has to be addressed.
I encourage everyone to re-read Reddit’s User Guide and associated policies. You may use this forum for discussion, but you may not use it to create your external content. This applies to anyone posting looking for ideas, or anyone who discovers a thread and wants to pull from it.
Our community has great discussions, helpful recommendations, and heartwarming stories of what the movies and events mean to you, and those are shared in good faith as part of a discussion with this community. We want to continue that.
Posts flat out fishing for content ideas will be removed (had one today looking for ideas for their novel). Posts that are reported as possibly fishing will be scrutinized. If anyone finds that what they’ve contributed here has been used in external media (whether it’s a video with 3 views or a blog with a million), we can assist you in filing a DMCA takedown notice to get that content removed.
Here’s what I posted in a bunch of “what’s your …” posts today (I really do feel obnoxious doing it, but no one should be stealing your thoughts and words and certainly shouldn’t be profiting off them):
We’ve had issues with content farming here, so I’m going to post this in any thread that could be fishing for content OR discovered by someone looking to steal your intellectual property.
Quick reminder that this is a space for community discussion, not a source for external content generation. Please see Rule 9 in our subreddit.
If this post is genuinely for discussion, wonderful! If its content is used for your article, blog, video, podcast, etc., you are violating Reddit’s terms of service.
A post is considered copyrighted on posting, so any use without the poster’s explicit consent is a violation of their rights. Anyone who feels their IP has been used without their consent may submit a takedown notice where such media appears.
