My pastor made me apologize to my dad for kicking him when he was about to punch me
One night my dad woke me up to sleep with my siblings in their bed,cus there’re scared but I didn’t want to because I thought they could sleep by themselves. So he kept telling me to go and do it, it was like 4am in the morning and he kept shouting at me and I was shouting back cus I had just woken up. I didn’t want to sleep with my siblings and then he kept saying don’t let me punch you, mind u i was 13 at the time I didn’t know any better. looking back I should of just gone and slept with them but I was still arguing and then he grabbed me by the shirt while I’m still in my bed and pushed me up on the wall. He was going to punch me so in defense I instinctively kicked him in the stomach he said to me ur kicking me I said yes because your going to punch me it’s a natural like I was just scared in the moment so instead he punch the wall and left and later call me back in my room and told me to go i didnt want to get actual punched so I just went.
I called me mum after my siblings slept cus she went to work for night shift and was coming home around 7. I told her what happened long story short my dad took my card ripped it up and told me if im ever in danger I should never call him and hes not my dad anymore.(Hes my step dad since birth) she told me what I did was extremely bad because I’m a girl and was trying to fight a grown man and if he was really trying to punch me I wouldn’t have been able to defend myself. She said to me I should let him punch me because he is my dad and I should have said sorry dad I didn’t mean to kick u during the time I kicked him like after I did she told me the right thing to do was to apologize. She told the pastor at chruch and he came to my place and told me in my room that I should go on my knees and apologize to my dad until he forgives me and eventually he did but to be honest I didn’t want to apologize and I didn’t feel remorseful of my actions and what my mum said to be that I should of apologized for being disrespectful and saying it was a natural instinct because he is dad
Personally I think the only wrong thing I did was not listening the first time after that i just learned to be quiet and follow instructions cus being disobedient in an African household as a girl gets u nowhere. I didn’t like going on my knees to apologize to him at all it felt demeaning I think thats the word jt just feels weird I never want to do that again.
So was I honestly in the wrong for what I did and said
