Udemy is a SCAM!!!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with  Udemy has been one of the most frustrating online purchasing experiences I’ve had in a long time.

I purchased a subscription only hours before requesting a refund, yet customer service immediately pushed back instead of addressing the actual issues. The platform experience was extremely misleading. The online advertisements and previews made the product appear polished and easy to navigate, but the actual app experience was completely different. Navigation was clunky and poorly designed. Multiple times I became stuck on pages with no obvious way to return to the home screen or search page without backing completely out of the app. For a learning platform, usability should be one of the most basic expectations.

The bass course I tried was equally disappointing. The instructor came across as disinterested and unenthusiastic, which made the lessons feel low-effort and difficult to stay engaged with. Even worse, the camera angles were poorly executed. The lessons often failed to show both hands on the bass guitar at the same time, making it nearly impossible to clearly understand fingering, positioning, and technique. That completely defeats the purpose of instructional music content.

What made the experience even worse was the customer service response afterward. Instead of showing any willingness to resolve the issue fairly, support immediately defaulted to rigid policy responses despite the fact that the purchase had only been made hours earlier. There was little acknowledgment of the deceptive difference between the advertised experience and the actual product experience. The interaction felt dismissive, impersonal, and designed to wear customers down rather than genuinely help them.

Between the misleading presentation, poor app usability, low-quality instruction, and frustrating customer service, this experience destroyed my confidence in the platform very quickly. I expected a professional online learning experience and instead felt like I paid for a product that did not remotely match expectations.
