Where did the trope of explaining how the crime was committed come from?

Everyone always enjoys the scene in a movie or book where the detective reveals how the crime was cleverly carried out, but surely that doesn’t happen in real life (does it?) How do babies form the “L” sound? What are they saying instead?

I have a one year old who’s starting to say his first words, among which are “ball” and “bubble”. While he’s obviously not making the “L” sound, those words are easily identifiable to a listener. What sound is he really making? How is he compensating?

Why is it harder to sing loudly?

As someone who can sing kind of okay at a regular volume, why is it so significantly harder just to increase the volume?
