Color comparison first:

can you guess which is which? I immediately had to pull these out to make sure I wasn’t crazy. 

LR:
HR Speed Up Updated Cherry Ember S vs. HR SU OG Solar Orange 6—cherry ember has more red undertones 

HR SU Updated Cranberry Charm M vs. HR SU OG Mulled Wine 6–cranberry charm is a little deeper but honestly doesn’t give much more than any of LLLs other burgundy colors

another color I think may be similar is Ocean Wave vs. Pool Party. i didn’t keep pool party in SU because that’s when they started messing with the OG stitching and fit unfortunately.

ultimately, if we want new colors we will have to accept that there are only so many colors in the rainbow guys 😅 so they will only be a shade or two different than previous colors.

I know I’ve been wanting this comparison so I figured Id do the SU faithful a solid and write my own “review” of the updated fit.
my thoughts on the updated SU are:

• looser on the legs and flare a little more if you have thin-average thighs i noticed it on the S but when I sized up it was a lot more noticeable—I didn’t think it to be flattering for myself
• waistband has shrunk (height wise) and there is more “leg fabric” but for those who want that little extra bit of compression I think the taller waistband on the OGs make a difference

Conclusion:

they're still cute but, I prefer the cut and fit of the OGs still. They appear more “tailored“ on likely due to the OGs having that “parachute” look on the back since it’s two separate pieces of fabric as opposed to pieces that are completely stitched together. I wanted to at least give the updates a try since they dropped colors I really wanted and wanted to get something I thought I’d actually wear. may be back to the drawing board unfortunately. I also realize the new ones actually look really good on in these photos lol but IRL the small details really made the difference.

Im sure some people will think I need to size up but, I actually use my runners pocket on the back of the waistband for my phone so I need it secure to my body without the worry of my shorts riding down when I’m running.
