Top comment Deletes a US State #45

Here is the updated (Correct) map, crisis averted. I thought we had a riot on our hands!

I can finally relax now after all that drama! Anyway Colorado is now deleted as it should be. Just to make it clear, editing comments is fine if it’s the top as long as it doesn’t change the outcome of which state gets deleted like we had before. I thought that was common sense but clearly not to some people.

I just want to thank everyone for all the kind comments and support. I try to read as many of the comments as I can but each post has a minimum of 2000 so it’s pretty hard most the time. I have some big ideas for the finale so stay tuned.

Most importantly, spread the word as much as possible if your state is still in the game! Share, cross post to rally as much support for your state as possible. This is the endgame now!

Quick Opportunity for Action - if you wanna say something about Flock (license plate readers)

Hello all!

If you have concerns about Flock and license plate readers, you should know that...

wrapped up in federal discussions of a highway bill there is an amendment being crafted that would BAN funding for such systems in all states as money is spent to improve our roads. I'm not a politician, just a concerned resident, so I'm sorry if I'm not explaining this well. From my understanding, this amendment presents a great opportunity to contact your congressional rep and tell them what you think about license plate readers.

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/NM#representatives <- find your congressional rep

https://www.wired.com/story/a-bipartisan-amendment-would-end-police-license-plate-tracking-nationwide/ <- read more about this amendment.

Support for the amendment means BANNING plate readers for anything but tolls.

Not supporting this amendment means highway funds can be spent on license plate readers including ones like Flock.

This amendment is all happening NOW! so get those calls in if you care to! I just left a voicemail with Gabe and it took a lot less time than writing this post.

Chinese Food

OK. Already figured out that I have to go to EP to get decent sushi, but I haven't tried Chinese takeout here yet. I've seen numerous Reddit and Facebook answers that we have no good Chinese food here in Cruces. But of the places we do have, what is the most passable? Or do I have to go to EP for that as well?

We can’t accept this treatment!

The way to play the game is easy! You just downvote this comment. If you upvote it New Mexico gets deleted. :(

Las Cruces Catholic School

May be moving to Las Cruces. Wondering what the school is like and how they do academically. I haven’t been able to find much online regarding how they perform on standardized tests or just in general. Niche only has 3 reviews. What have you heard/experienced? Do kids enjoy going there? Are they strong academically? How do they stack up compared to the public schools in the area? How strong is the Catholic component? TIA

The People's Data Center Forum - Sunday May 24

Thought I'd share this that came across my feed today.

>Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library in the Roadrunner Room

Fight Chihuahuan Desert Xtraction (FCDX) will host The People’s Data Center Forum focused on the impacts that Project Jupiter, a hyper-scale artificial intelligence data center, will have on on the region's public health, and environment. The public forum will take place on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library in the Roadrunner Room. Experts in water policy, energy systems, climate and environmental law, and artificial intelligence will discuss how this project may affect the Chihuahuan Desert region, and take questions.

FCDX created this forum to provide residents with accessible, research-driven information. This is also an opportunity for open public dialogue around one of the region’s most consequential proposed developments. “Project Jupiter represents a grave threat to our region that will have long-lasting impacts on our water, energy, air, and democratic bodies,” said Esperanza Chairez, an organizer with FCDX, “Community members deserve transparent information, open discussion, and the opportunity to ask critical questions.”

The event will include presentations from invited speakers followed by a question-and-answer session. The invited experts include:

Dr. Marzyeh Ghassemi- is an Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Her research examines the limitations, risks, and ethical concerns surrounding artificial intelligence applications in the medical sector. Originally from Las Cruces and an alumna of New Mexico State University, Dr. Ghassemi brings nationally recognized expertise on AI systems and their societal implications.

Colin Cox- is a lawyer with the Climate Law Institute combating oil and gas pollution in New Mexico. As a staff attorney with the Center for Biological Diversity, he has supported clean air advocacy efforts in Santa Teresa and has extensive experience addressing environmental impacts tied to industrial development.

Norm Gaume- is a water engineer and former Director of the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission. He currently serves as an officer with New Mexico Water Advocates, an organization focused on transforming statewide water governance policy. He will discuss water use concerns and sustainability challenges associated with hyperscale data centers in arid regions.

Phil Simpson- is a retired engineer from the Army Research Laboratory. Since retirement, he has focused on advancing clean energy solutions in New Mexico and will speak on the energy demands and infrastructure implications of large-scale AI and data center development.

The forum is intended to foster informed civic engagement, and provide residents with an opportunity to better understand how these emerging technologies and mass-scale projects will shape the future of our community. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place at the Las Cruces public library located at 200 E Picacho Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88001 on Sunday, May 24th starting at 1 pm.

Fight Chihuahuan Desert Xtraction (FCDX) - is a group of local grassroots organizers imagining a more ecologically sound, democratic, and equitable future in our desert. They formed in opposition to Project Jupiter.

This is what a data center sounds like 24/7. Shown here at midnight with hundreds of residential houses immediately next to it.

Michaels Sewage

PSA - assuming they are even still open, don’t go to Michael’s today. There were large amounts of sewage flooding onto the floor there earlier (hadn’t yet reached all isles when I was there but it was making its way) and I imagine this will be a heck of a lot to clean up.
