No offense, but Midland and Odessa look exactly how i imagined Republican cities to look like
I really dont mean no hate towards midland and odessa. Im not from here, i just come here for work, i will always love this area because of all the opportunities and jobs it has given me. But its just interesting seeing how the conservative ideology is reflected in how the city is built. Im from a blue city similar in size, and we have bike paths that go around the whole city, we have free public transport, and a lot more public land, parks, and other communal spaces. Compared to Midessa where we dont even have sidewalks in many parts of the city. Midessa is much more individualistic and car dependant. The people here would rather keep all their money than pay a little more in taxes for more public spaces and services. Im not saying theres anything wrong with that, its just a difference in ideology,
Being a worker in a Republican controlled area vs in an NDP (canada) controlled area
Can you guys explain why this part of minnesota is usually so Democrat compared to any other rural white area?
Back when Republicans at least pretended to support workers and unions
El Paso Hispanic MAGAs are very naive if they dont think that MAGA hates the people of El Paso as much as they hate the people of Dearborn Michigan
They see both as invasions. Do you seriously dont think MAGA has a problem with an American city speaking more spanosh than english like El Paso does?
Shout out to the UFW. Thanks to them California's farm workers have the right to unionize, minimum wage, and overtime pay
More evidence that Andrew is MAGA (or at least republican)
So on todays episode he made a joke about LA not being ran in a good way ans he mentioned mayor bass, which is fine, this is a comedy podcast and they make fun of both sides, but his tru feelings came out when Bobby jokingly said "we need a mamdani" and Andrew immediately said "noooo no no". He didnt tell a joke or anything, it was just a nooo noo noo
What are some things we accept today that future generations will hopefully look back on the same way we look at company towns and child labor?

Norway and their oil
When did this talking point start? The talking point that Norway doesnt count or is not a good example of social democracy or progressivism because its paid for with their oil revenue? Yesterday i read 2 comments here, one said "To play devils advocate, it is true that Norway's Welfare is overwhelmingly backed by their Oil Industry" and another one said "Pointing to Norway is kinda cheating since it’s really a petro-state. Easy to pay for welfare when it’s done by selling oil and gas."
.
But i dont understand why thats "cheating" or why it wouldnt count as a left wing example. I think its because the left are supposed to be environmentalists and against oil, but its still leftist policy to use the profits of your countrys natural resources for the good of the whole country, the state is majority shareholder of Norways oil so they can use the profits for their welfare state, thats left-wing as fuck. If Norway was libertarian their oil would be completely private and they wouldnt even have high taxes, so there would be no benefit for the country from their oil revenue. Mexican leftists still to this day celebrate the nationalization of their oil industry. Another example is my state of New Mexico where 40% of our state revenue comes from the oil industry's taxes; which as a progressive state, we have decided to use to fund free college and free childcare and more.
.
So yes these examples are examples of left wing policy even if we rely on our oil industries, thats a very left wing belief, that our natural resources belong to the people and should be used for the benefit of the people and workers, not just the oligarch oil tycoons
DSA or Working Families Party?
Both parties work within the Democratic Party and i think that's very smart. But if theres a primary with a DSA candidate vs a Working Fanilies candidate, and lets pretend theyre both good people with no scandals, and their platforms are the DSA and WFP platforms; who do you vote for?
