La Roche Posy Lipikar Baume
My baby is 7 months old and has had eczema since around 1.5 months. It is currently quite severe and affects most of his body, especially his face and neck.
We tried using hydrocortisone twice daily for 2–3 weeks during flares, but it did not significantly improve the eczema on his face. We were also using QV cream as a moisturizer.
Yesterday, we switched to La Roche-Posay Lipikar balm. I started applying it frequently (about every 2–3 hours), and today I noticed that the eczema looks noticeably calmer. It has not completely cleared, but the redness and inflammation have reduced, and the skin now looks more flaky, as if it is healing.
I’m a bit confused about this change. How can a moisturizing cream show such an effect when a steroid didn’t seem to help much? Is this a normal response in eczema?
I’ve also noticed a pattern before—CeraVe moisturizing cream seemed to help initially but stopped making a difference after a few days. I have read similar comments online about Lipikar working for a couple of tubs and then seeming less effective over time, which is making me concerned about consistency and long-term effectiveness.
And do I continue using it as a regular moisturiser or limit its use to one or two times a day?
