Coolant leak

Hey Lincoln fans, I got an 06 with 116k miles.

There appears to be crusty residue on the passenger side mating surface of the intake manifold.

Is this sign of a leak from the intake manifold? Or potentially something to do with the water pump?

I also noticed crystalized splotches all over the front of the engine by the accessory belt. Nothing seems fresh just dry and crusty.

Never had heating issues with the car since I took ownership at around 80k miles.

Battery question

Hi Lincoln owners, I got an 06 with 116k miles.

Wanted to ask the community if they'd recommend swapping to a new battery (super start agm platinum 65 with 850 cca with 20% off)

I got a 3 yearish old motorcraft 65 650cca battery from the Ford dealer. It's a Michigan daily driver.

I cleaned off a boatload of sizzling build up from my battery terminals and battery caps with baking soda.

Battery Voltage is 12.6 alternator is 14.55 in startup. Everything seems fine after the cleanup. No electrical issues in vehicle.

Couldn't detect a sulfur smell but the entire top of the battery reacted to baking soda and battery tray.

Wanted to know if you recommended replacement? Got the new battery coming tomorrow with 3 year warranty, was the top rated on consumer reports for 65 size. I can of course return it for full refund.

Gentleman at O'Reilly's suggested I just keep some terminal cleaning spray and protectant spray to clear future build up and run my current motorcraft battery as is.

Thank you appreciate any feedback.

Hi all,

Have a 2006 Lincoln towncar signature limited at around 116,300 miles.

No issues with my rear diff but I was thinking of cleaning out the rear diff, and swapping the factory 80w-90 for a 75w-90 amsoil severe full synthetic oil. From a preventative maintenance standpoint + to check the seals.

I heard good things on the amsoil 75w-90 in regards to protection + (very minor) improved fuel economy vs OEM conventional replacement.

Wanted to see if anyone in the group had done a similar change after 100k miles, or if the group had thoughts on motorcraft 75w-140 instead. Or if you're in the camp of "don't touch it if there's not an issue" 😂. Happy for all feedback.

Thanks!

Hi all, I've got a 2006 Lincoln Towncar Signature Limited with mileage at 116300.

The car runs fine, but it's got a slow leak from the upper radiator hose at the engine connection over the oil filter.

I was planning to replace the upper radiator hose with a rock auto ordered motorcraft OEM. Simple fix.

I'm getting feedback that it may be a good idea to not only replace the upper, but throw in a new motorcraft OEM thermostat + a motorcraft OEM lower radiator hose since I'd already be draining the coolant. Hell even replacing the radiator cap with a new OEM for $5.

Ask #1: Wanted to know your thoughts on whether those additional steps seemed worthwhile from a preventative maintenance standpoint and if there're any specific tips or things to watch out for - seems straight forward. (I'm fairly comfortable with quick repairs, but I don't currently have a jack stand)

Ask #2: I'm also getting suggestions to replace the heater hoses, since the coolant is gonna be drained anyways. I wanted to get people's thoughts on that in regards to preventative maintenance. If it seems like overkill to expand to heater hose replacement, or if it would be beneficial feel free to chime in (would have to go non OEM for several of those hoses). The heater hoses seemed like a larger job than the radiator hoses + thermostat.

Thanks! And happy to have joined this forum. Big fan of my current 2006 and former 97 towncar.
