Just got this alert from pierce transit:

The 512 Park & Ride parking lot will close 8/31 - 9/3 for restriping. Bus service will continue to operate during the closure. Please park in an alt. location.

A good alt location would be Lakewood sounder station. Lakewood sounder station serves the 592 and 594 and as of 8/29 also the 574. Just thought everyone should know

This is a 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 fire!

Freeway Cowboy Sean Duffy proposed eliminating the Highway Trust Fund’s mass transit account!

Duffy also proposed cutting funding for Complete Streets (safety programs for🚶🏿& 🚴‍♀️) and grants for EV charging infrastructure!

Lastly, Duffy proposed eliminating public transit system improvements and tolling programs from eligibility for the traffic congestion solutions program!

Duffy did not even have the courtesy to send it to the House of Representatives, despite them being the only ones to draft language for a reauthorization of the Surface Transportation Bill with key champions like Rep. Rick Larsen and Laura Friedman calling for MORE transit, bike, and pedestrian funding.

We are talking BILLIONS in funding for key mass transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects.

To add insult to injury, the Administration is REFUSING to sign agreements for billions in already budgeted funding for key BRT projects (like Vermont Ave) and transit infrastructure projects according to the New York Times.

Who wants to help us launch a campaign to fight this??

UPDATE: Transportation 4 America says Congress should just pass a one year extension of the Surface Transportation Bill and maybe keep doing that for several more years.

Starting August 29, 2026, transit will change for ST Express services, and theres a lot of changes happening relating to the ST Express fleet, as a result of link extensions and future STRIDE (enhanced bus service) projects. Please note this is my writing, with information gleaned from whats been approved.

SOUND TRANSIT EXPRESS CHANGES

515: Deleted. Use 1 Line or 2 Line trains.

522: Service terminates at Shoreline South/148th Station. Use new King County Metro routes 72 and 77 for service to Lake City and Roosevelt Station (Route 77 only).

535: Service added on weekends, operating every 30 minutes all day on both Saturdays and Sundays (currently, it operates hourly on Saturdays and does not operate at all on Sundays).

547 (New Route): ST Nightbus serving stops between Seattle and Downtown Redmond. Stops at most or all of the Link stations on the 2 Line. Operated by King County Metro.

550: Deleted. Use the 2 Line. Use revised Route 556 for service between Bellevue Downtown and South Bellevue stations.

554: Deleted. Use revised Route 556 for service to South Bellevue, and then transfer to the 2 Line.

556: Revised routing and span of service. Operates 7 days a week between Issaquah Highlands and Bellevue Transit Center (Bellevue Downtown Station), also serving South Bellevue Station and the stops previously served by discontinued Route 550. Use new Metro Route 270 from Bellevue Transit Center to transfer to the U District, or take the 2 Line to the U District.

570: ST Nightbus extended to Lakewood, also serving stops in Federal Way and Tacoma. This route replaces the night owl 574 trips that left Lakewood early in the morning. Operations transferred to Pierce Transit.

574: Terminates at Federal Way Downtown Station on the north and at Lakewood Sounder Station from the south; no longer serves Lakewood Transit Center. All night owl and early morning trips have been deleted from this route and are now covered by the new overnight service. To get to Star Lake, Kent-Des Moines, or SeaTac Airport, use the 1 Line. Route 161 provides access to 188th St.

580: Deleted. Ridership dropped significantly (averaging about one passenger per trip) after the Puyallup Station parking garage opened. Passengers needing transit access between the South Hill Park & Ride and Puyallup Station can use Pierce Transit Route 400 instead.

586: Deleted. Use existing transit methods to access 1 Line or 2 Line trains. Routes 590, 594, and 595 all connect Tacoma Dome with Downtown Seattle. Route 574, with improved headways, connects riders to Federal Way and the 1 Line. The Sounder connects Tacoma with Downtown Seattle, and routes 577 and 578 connect Federal Way with Downtown via bus.

TBA (New Route): ST Nightbus servicing the corridor between Seattle and Everett. This bus replaces all 512 trips that operated south of Lynnwood City Center Station. Operated by Community Transit.

 

This is happening way too often!

1 & 2 Ln train service is reduced between Northgate Sta to University of Washington until further notice.

Link shuttle trains are sharing one track between Northgate and University of Washington stations until further notice due to a mechanical issue near Roosevelt Station. Passengers traveling from Northgate to University of Washington stations will need to board trains on the platform to Federal Way Downtown Station.

Some 1 Line trains may turn back at Stadium.

Some 2 Line trains may turn back at Judkins Park.

Please check your schedules before heading out on transit today! Most service will be running on a SUNDAY level of service today, July 3 and a regular SATURDAY level of service tomorrow.

1 and 2 line service today: started at 6 AM, going to about midnight (the unplanned disruptoin on the bridge this morning was canceled because it was completed before start of service). Tomorrow it will be regular Saturday schedule, services from 5 AM until 3 AM (extended service for new years)

King County Metro STX bus service will be running Sunday schedule today and Saturday schedule tomorrow. Routes that dont operate on sundays do not operate today. Trailhead Direct DOES operate today. Some routes may have added trips to accommodate fourth of july travel tomorrow night.

Memorial day weekend metro ran trolleys. That's expected they always run trolleys on holiday weekends but the last two weekends they're running trolleys as well. Next weekend is Juneteenth so they'll run them again. Is this weekend and last due to the world cup? Normally these routes run with diesels on non holiday weekends.

Looks like King County metro now has real time data up for their DART (Dial a ride transit) routes (not to be confused with community transit's DART which stands for the same thing, but is paratransit.

Metro has not formally announced this, but real time data is showing up for DART routes. Do keep in mind that DART routes have a flexible service area, so if anyone gets on or off there, thats an important caveat that can delay service. This is new, so these times may be inaccurate.

Grateful for Hopelink (DART's operator) and Metro for making this happen!

How 1 Line and 2 Line trains are delayed due to a vehicle on the tracks at Mount Baker Station . Updates will be sent when more information is available.

As of June 12, 2026, the last CT commuter route leaves Seattle as the 424 is deleted. It is replaced by a new route 908 with has 250% of the trips that the 424 has today. In addition to not serving the freeway stops on 520 and the stops in Seattle, theres a few other tweaks.

It serves Bothell park and ride. Because CT no longer restricts drop offs and pickups in King County, riders needing to get from Bothell Park and Ride to Bellevue have more trips to help them with this commute. This is huge! This could help me personally.

How soon could fare gates be implemented? As I've said in other places, fares will not get light rail to ballard West Seattle Tacoma or anywhere else.

They can help keep our stations clean though.

Concerns i have about gates are:

Accessibility. How would those with mobility issues navigate the system?

Safety. At stations such as sodo othello and belred how to prevent people from walking on the tracks (this should be a conversation on its own, given the reputation of thesee corridors)

Tap to exit? I think tapping out at lynnwood Redmond and federal way isn't a bad idea. It's how it works in LA

Also support for transitgo needs to be included or a phase out period (personally I think it can go but that's off topic here)

Lead time for youths to get orca cards so they don't have to pay

Anyone using transit along 15th avenue Ne South of campus parkway and also routes 45, 75 (double whammy for them), 79 can expect severe delays due to an electrical fire (on 42nd and university way) and a hazmat response at 40th and 15th.
