I heard Voyager for the first time

Then for the second and third time. I just wanted to place on record, again, my gratitude for Polly's absolutely surpassing Grace. It's the only description I can summon for that sublime piece of work.

We are truly blessed.

This is a jerk to the moderator of r/magicthecirclejerking

I assume there's only one, and I hope he can read, but yeah, you, with the aggressive demeanour and wispy hair.

I'm using this sub to point out that this sub is no longer useable.

The reason I love jerking so vigorously is to share my absolute contempt for that stupid game and the fools who still pay for that crap.

But instead of posts about which condiment I should use on which Triome, all i see are "Is this 6/6 real?" or "Is this sea-lion male or female?" type garbage. It's indestructible and unblockable, mod, please fix this.

I'll admit this is a Reddit wide issue, and it definitely isn't just me being a prematurely curmudgeonly fuckwit, but I've seen plenty of subs address this using public humiliation and ritual disembowelment, so why can't we?

So you'll probably ignore this, and act like nobody REALLY MISSES THOSE FARSIDE CARDS, but if something doesn't change, I'm going to shit post on r/iburiedmywifeunderthegarden.

That's all.

Can anyone actually read?

Being a competitive Operation player, I picked up MTG a few months ago. I did use the crappy tweezers at first, but soon realised my hands were probably better.

My friends and I were playing Commandamandamanda just fine using The Johnny Bravo Plays Homelands VHS Rules, until some wanker asked if he could target [[Autumn Willow]] with [[Red Elemental Blast]], and Johnny said he couldn't, but that he could target her with [[Hydroblast]].

It got me wondering how many so-called "Professionals" are just mouth breathing halfwits who would put a Moldervine Cloak on a Giant Solifuge because they thought it was a 4/1 Shrubbery?

So, out of curiosity, can you read? If not, do you have nightmares with Very Hungry Caterpillars in?

Oh, and another thing you can do now they're public employees.

Don't hate your enemy, use them.

They've just become public employees. There are certain rules councillors have to follow. This is courtesy of Google, excuse my laziness, I'm not a lawyer!

What Must Be Declared

Councillors must register "disclosable pecuniary interests" (DPIs), which include:

  • Employment or Business: Any employment, trade, profession, or vocation carried on for profit or gain by the councillor or their spouse/partner.
  • Contracts: Any active contracts for goods, services, or works between the council and the councillor, their firm, or a company in which they are a partner or director.
  • Companies: Any company in which the councillor has a financial interest or holds a position (such as a director).
  • Land/Property: Any land or property owned or rented in the council area.
  • Sponsorship: Any payment received towards election expenses or MP expenses.

These have to be declared on election, so provides an easy way to find out if every business you support deserves that support.

Remember, the smaller the scale of company, the more effective a personal boycott becomes. There are very few powers you have which those fuckers care about, but top of the list is your economic power. Use it. Use them.

Yes, okay, it's an old geezer post, and I'm really not trying to be the guy who knows, but I've campaigned in or cared about every national election since 1987, so I have experienced some shitty nights, as well as a few decent ones, sort of.

First, over half of the eligible people won't vote. This is too glibly accepted, but think about what it means. Most people would describe most of those around them as good, kind folk. But on average, they aren't voting. What distinguishes the ones who do? It's caring enough about something or someone. The Refuk messaging is "Get Starmer out. Support Reform.". It's text book negative campaigning, hinging on personal feelings towards an individual. Look at the name of this, our beloved subreddit. Hatred works because feeling deeply is easy and thinking deeply is hard; remember the occasionally great Adlai Stevenson when a supporter noted "You have the vote of every thinking American sir!".

"Thanks, but I need a majority to win."

(Editor's note, Stevenson didn't win)

Second, perspective. An old saying is that if voting changed anything, they wouldn't let you do it, and like many old sayings, it's horseshit designed to suppress morale. But it does conceal a truth, which is that, sadly, real power doesn't rest solely with the people. Real governance is where the rubber of politics meets the road of reality, and it cuts every way. Sadly, when it's the incompetent in power, as we saw for a decade and a half, people suffer. But it does also present opportunities: and the smaller the politician, the greater the opportunity to expose their incompetence when their rhetoric runs smack into reality. Which it will.

Psephological fact says that, tomorrow, Reform UK are going to make a lot of gains. Good. The more that stand, the more we can see to knock down again. Labour are going to be absolutely annihilated in a way that many saw coming in 2024, but not so swiftly. I have old, hardcore socialist friends saying they will vote Tory if it represents the best way of stopping those scum, I pray I never have to make that sacrifice, but I would.

I will end with the oft evoked, but ever useful words of Jean-Paul Sartre, which sadly, still have meaning during elections.

"We do not fight fascism because we expect to win. We fight fascism because it is fascism."

Keep the faith comrades, because, to use the second greatest twentieth century philosopher, J. Michael Straczynski, faith manages.
