23M, received a joining bonus - looking for advice on investing a lumpsum + monthly SIP strategy
Hi all, fairly new to actually managing real money and want to get this right from the start.
Quick background:
23M, working as a DevOps Engineer, based in Bangalore.
transitioned from intern to full time in August this year.
no EMIs or loans currently, and don't expect any for at least the next several months.
monthly take home is around 60k
regular expenses - rent, fuel, occasional travel back home, eating out - after all this i can comfortably set aside 20k/month
The situation:
i just got my joining bonus and have 2.5-2.7 lakh ready to invest as a lumpsum. no immediate liabilities so this is genuinely free capital right now.
Risk appetite:
i'm okay with aggressive/high risk investing for a portion of this, happy to mix high risk mutual funds with more stable ones, especially for the 20k/month i'll be investing going forward.
What i'm looking for advice on:
what's the best way to deploy the 2.5-2.7L lumpsum - straight lumpsum into equity, STP from a liquid fund into equity over a few months, or some other approach given current market conditions.
for the 20k/month going forward, how should i split this across high risk (smallcap/midcap/sectoral) vs stable (index funds, largecap, debt) options
any specific fund categories worth looking at for someone comfortable with aggressive risk at this stage of life (23, no dependents, no liabilities)
should any part of the lumpsum go toward non mutual fund instruments (PPF, NPS, etc) or should it be purely market linked given my risk tolerance
anything a first time investor in my position should be doing that i haven't thought of
Would really appreciate inputs from people who've been through a similar "first big investable amount + aggressive risk tolerance" situation.
Thanks in advance!
