Messed Up Discovery

I found out THREE of my nephews watch Tor's Cabinert. One of them was somehow unaware I sometimes write for the show. Worse yet, when he found out he went in assuming The Orin Andrew Tain story was real... only I was doing a Mark Twainish exaggeration of the facts. (After all, he knows the influence Samuel Clemens has had on my writing.) He was mad at the reveal that it was one of the lies.

Weird Subjects for TCoC that have been pitched... and We Oddly Can't Get To Work

5 and 4 . As follow ups to both the William Castle and Tommy Wiseau episode, two other directors in that vein were considered. One being Edward D. Wood Jnr. This one has weird reasons why it keeps not happening. At least the times it was pitched since I started working on the cabinet, it has a case of Tor being lukewarm on Wood. After all, the guy is sort of the prototype of a bad movie director. Tim Burton movie got so much wrong... sometimes on purpose. The truth is stranger than fiction because fiction is obligated to make sense and all that. On top of that if it were to happen, I think Claire should write it. Claire and Tor think *I* should do it since I still have something like 10-15 pages of notes that I didn't use for a video I did back in 2019. Even though I'm still trying to do a malicious compliance edit on that video so I can put it back up on YouTube. I have no desire to write another video on Wood. (That could change. I'm a freelance writer and video editor. Bribery can work wonders.) But I think I said everything I can/needed to say on the man in that video. The one I want to do it is Phil Tucker. See, Tucker looked at what Castle was doing and said: 'I wish I could do that'. Imagine a director and editor with Castle's ambitions but a degree of technical competence that makes Ed Wood look like Guillermo del Toro. Okay, I admit, the fact that 'Ro-Man'(the creature in Tucker's 'Robot Monster in 3D') is a case where they didn't borrow (or steal) the right suit components so they wound up with the feet, body, arms, and hands of a gorilla suit and a diver's helmet might be part of why *I* want to do it. But it is not the only reason.

  1. Railway Jack- I want to do this one because it is about a baboon. It falls squarely into my duties as The Monkey Boy. Tor wants to do it because it is about trains. We just haven't found a good hook on it.

  2. After writing the J. Fred Muggs story, I became obsessed with the idea that there have to be other shows that were actually improved by focus groups. I found two. One of them almost everyone knows about. The other is completely insane, has elements to the story involving Stratemeyer Syndicate characters (The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew in particular), and Elvis. It is a franchise that since it began in 1969 has served as the career launching pad for: the most famous non-talk radio personalities in the world, one of the most prolific and respected voice actors of all time, a multi-Eisner winning comic book writer, an Anne Spencer Lindbergh prize winning novelist, and an Academy Award Winning Director. Tor thought the topic was interesting but might be a better fit for my channel.

  3. Lyndon LaRouche- Tor wants to do it. I want to do it. We both know to do it right would take an episode length that would make even Ken Burns say: 'Maybe this documentary is going a bit too long.'

Yo Rewatchers.....

Okay... I'm writing this on July 31st, 2026. Tomorrow is August 1st. Which just happens to be my birthday. I know some of you have been going through rewatching episodes. If you aren't doing so in chronological order maybe you could celebrate you could watch the Ebola Reston episode or Barrel Of Monkeys. Or maybe go to my channel and watch this... a little seen Jess and Tor Collab... https://youtu.be/dp3qirguMz4

Good news

I don't know when it will go up on the Patreon or if Tor will have the guts to make it a full 'real' episode, but I did send Tor a VERY cool video for his birthday. The only reason it can't win 'Fan Art of the Week' is because even though this wasn't a video he asked for, I am sometimes a paid employee of the channel.

Gizmo's funny adventure

One of the three children in the neighborhood who are afraid of Gizmo MIGHT be getting less scared of him. She usually shouts 'Hola perrito puppy!' but then runs away with he walks up to greet her. Well, today, she saw him panting and I said: 'Gizmo, I bet you want to go home and get water.' She ran back to her swimming pool (freshly filled from the hose) and offered him her small bucket of water. She's still afraid to try to pet him... but she's getting there.

Weird thing I realized when relooking at my scripts...

This isn't intentional on my part or anything, but I've noticed only one real difference between writing a script for Did I Get What I Paid For? (the TV and movie review show on my own channel) and the scripts I write for Tor's Cabinet. On my own show... I'll look at whatever I'm reviewing, summarize it, and end almost every paragraph that is not in the history segment with a joke. Whereas, if I'm writing for Tor, I look at the incident from three or four different sources and end every other paragraph with things that if I didn't know they really happened, I would ASSUME someone was pulling my leg.

Five Tor's Cabinet Facts MOST of You Don't Know....

Jess the Monkey boy here with five facts about TCOC most of you don't know... and one lie.

  1. The Ebola Reston episode originally had a clip of a driver of one of the post WWII truck drivers who USAMRID legends said drove live Anthrax halfway across the country. The driver confirmed the story. The driver was my late grandfather. In those days, Tor preferred not doing episodes longer than an hour, so it was cut that interesting tangent or cut vital parts of the epilogue. Jess the grandson, was angry. Jess the fellow YouTube video producer totally got it.
  2. All but one episode with monkey references had my direct influence. I wrote Ebola Reston and Barrel of Monkeys. I came across some weird factoids while editing the Snail Don episode and asked for permission to put them in. The actor with the monkey suit was only an indirect connection. It was originally intended for Barrel of Monkeys 2 but it grew too long. So now Claire retroactively considers it my 'late Christmas Present'.
  3. There were these teenagers were staring at me as they walked out of the local library's TV, movie, video projector room. What had they been watching on Youtube? Tor's Cabinet. They recognized me not from my own show but from my guest spot on TCOC.
  4. Tor guest starred on an episode of Did I Get What I Paid For? on my channel Parody Error Films. (Sorry, no birthday episode for me this year. But I'll have Tor back on my show eventually.) Due to when it was written and my scheduling issues it is TECHNICALLY the first Mark Twain related Tor video. At least three people connected to the TCOC love Mark Twain. So Twain/Clemens getting shout outs was sort of inevitable. Tor and I both got knee deep in researching Twain for that... Tor kept finding connections between Twain and stories he was doing. And to this day, he blames me for causing him to find them. We're still friends because he knows he can get even at almost any time. He hasn't used it yet, but he does have a magic token he can use to put something on my review que. (He gave me a list of stuff he wants me to review already and two of them were ones I've wanted to do anyway. And one of them might even have an indirect connection to a script I'm already doing for him.)
  5. I am making a video birthday present for Tor. Hopefully it will only take me two or three days to do. Whether or not he will let the rest of you will ever see it is up to him. But it is really funny.
  6. Tor actually REJECTED one of my pitches not because it wasn't weird or interesting butbecause he thought it would actually be a better fit for Parody Error Films. I'm not sure if I should do it. It's out of my normal video topic... but it might be too silly for Tor's Cabinet.
