Hey Magik fans (Magikal girls?)! Just today ‘X-Orcists’ by Ashley Allen and Germán Peralta was bumped from a 5-issue mini to an ongoing!! Really exciting stuff especially for marvel to see the potential in magik leading this team. However, if we want to keep that momentum going, we gotta support the book👍

The first issue is out November 18th, 2026!! However, the pre-order cut off date is THIS Monday, October 12th!!

From a fans perspective, one way of showing the marvel gods that people care about this book/character is by placing your order early or by that date. It also ensures you get a copy if it sells out! (Not the end of the world if you still buy it day of but before the date really shows the demand from comic stores!)

If you’ve been enjoying this magik saga by Ashley Allen and wanna keep supporting it as it launches into an ongoing series, definitely consider pre-ordering ‘X-Orcists’! And who knows it seems like a lot of magic figures could join at any point! Thanks !!

Art by David Messina. And Chris Claremont wrote this so of course kitty is gonna be involved with the brood and with illyana haha. This was at the end of the issue as it’s own separate couple pages. Illyana calling her girlfriend caught me off guard haha. Kinda funny seeing magik with xenomorphs.

Always wishing magik would be a main character in a crossover story like this and not be infected. I think it’d be cool to see her use limbo to buy her time and stuff. Or like that one zombies run where she had to stay darkchylde because she got bit but the demonic parts of her were stronger than the zombie infection.

As many magik fans know, inferno was integral to Illyana’s “conclusion” (not really concluded until over a decade later but) on the new mutants in the late 80’s. Regardless of how it ended, it’s undeniable how many issues and heroes this crossover event affected.

In Avengers #300, one of the inferno crossover issues, Kang the conquerer witnesses New York City be invaded by limbo demons. As Kang looks into other timelines, he sees the Time Streams disappear and there are fewer and fewer options. He sees “demonic beings of some kind ravaging the planet at will across the Time Stream, with none who can withstand them”

after witnessing that, he concludes that the avengers and heroes must be dead. “Not only have the demons destroyed them but like a virus infecting the time stream, they are steadily destroying alternative futures of earth as well!”

Now obviously this isn’t Illyana’s doing, Madelyne and N’astirh are seen in the last panel as the main reason (aka kidnapping babies and a spell to keep her stepping disc open, etc.). Illyana is the one that sacrifices herself to reverse everything (I am assuming this reversed it in the other time streams. I cannot find if they actually showed that happening) . But it does show how much of a threat limbo is by basically using the stepping discs to invade and “infect” the time stream. It really gives me Raven from teen titans vibes. Where they both have this connection to a demonic world-ending being/dimension. And them being the only key to stopping it and keeping that contained

They really weren’t kidding when they said Illyana aka “Darkchylde— will someday bring about Armageddon”

So anyways we’re gonna keep the apocalypse maiden on the team in Alaska lmaooo

With magik and Colossus ending I’ve been missing looking forward to magik content. Obviously, I have been reading the main x-men team series w Magik but ever since AOR “ended”, in my opinion illyana has been kinda boring on the team and not doing much.

I’m hoping for the new DNX event to treat magik right because she wasn’t exactly treated the best in the last crossover event. Maybe give her cool interactions with the fantastic four since she doesn’t talk to them much at all idk

The x men tie-in issues with DNX (#37, 38, 39, 40 and 41) all so far seem to focus on individual members of the team (based on the summaries released. could be subject to change). There’s Quentin, magneto, Greycrow, and Psylocke! I am hoping that magik is announced for issue #41 but I am not sure. If she isn’t, I hope she plays a role in the actual 5 issues.

Alright…and just like that Magik and Colossus has come to an end!! thank you to Ashley Allen, Germán Peralta, Arthur Hesli, and Ariana Maher for their work and creativity on this series.

In this final issue, we had a glimpse at darkchild coming out in a mage battle and most importantly we saw a rocky sibling duo come together to take down an evil trying to destroy where they grew up.

Every bit of tension was leading up to this payoff in issue #5. Magik regretted saying things to him and wanted to make it right and colossus showing he trusts her in battle. Anything they can do so avoid the same fate as Lada and Koschei’s parallel sibling relationship.

We see magik have to get creative with her stepping discs and arsenal of swords while fighting Koschei because he drained all of the surrounding magic. And of course once the magic was restored, darkchild and a more accepting soulsword-wielding colossus gave him a run for his money.

After all is said and done, colossus wants to stay and honor Kayla’s name and do good in the world and Magik is going back to the Alaskan team.

However, In the final incantation note by leaving marvel editor Darren Shan, he says that this doesn’t mean this will be the last time we see this creative team

Any ideas on what this could mean? Another magik solo? A team book? Perhaps another duo?

And finally, what did you think of this final issue? And the series as whole.
