Why Didn’t Rip and Beth Feel Like Themselves in Dutton Ranch, Season 1?
I’m really glad Taylor Sheridan is coming back as the creative force behind Season 2. Season 1 just didn’t feel like the Rip and Beth we knew from Yellowstone. They were on screen a lot, but it felt like they had taken a backseat to their own story. Rip seemed more defensive than commanding, Beth lost a lot of the fire and unpredictability that made her such a compelling character, and the overall tension just wasn’t there. In Yellowstone, they drove the story and kept you on the edge of your seat. In Dutton Ranch Season 1, something felt missing. Maybe Taylor Sheridan’s reduced creative role had something to do with it, maybe not, but I’m optimistic that with him back leading the creative direction, Season 2 will bring back the intensity, grit, and unforgettable storytelling that made us fall in love with these characters in the first place. Anyone else feel the same way?
