Your Response To People That Speak Negatively About HBCUs

There are a certain segment of people who talk negatively about HBCUs. I currently attend an HBCU (Central State University). They say things such as "HBCUs are second-rate schools." I've seen comments online saying, "That companies won't pick graduates from HBCUs for certain jobs." The haters feel these school inadequte to the PWIs. Whether you attended an HBCU or not, what would your response be to the people who speak negatively about HBCUs?

Rant: Can We Cavs Fans Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Championship in Peace?

Recently, the Cavs and us Cavs fans celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the championship. I was Downtown Friday for the anniversary celebration rocking my 2016 championship gear and I had fun re-watching Game 7 as well as interacting with fellow Cavs fans. I met the guy from the "Believeland" documentary who had the replica of The Larry O'Brien Trophy, and it still looked the same 10 years later.

Yet, there are still haters out there who let us celebrate in peace. Warriors fans are still hating on the title. Same with LeBron haters or NBA fans at large. Of course, you have people that still wanna put an asterisk on the title (i.e. Draymond suspension, Bogut's injury). Funny, they never put that same asterisk on the Warriors' first title because Kyrie and Love were injured, but we know why.

Now, Knicks fans are hating on us celebrating the title. I was watching a YouTube video yesterday with Earl the Pearl and Spencer looking back on the championship. You had one Knicks fan saying in the comments saying that everyone is jealous of the Knicks because one of them pointed out it took them 53 years to win another title. Typical NYC mentality. I get it they're excited about their title, but nobody is thinking about them or jealous of them. What is it? Cleveland isn't suppose to have anything great? We don't deserve nice things?

Opinion: Governor/State Senate Feels Ohio Isn't MAGA Enough

This is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. Ohio Senate feels that our state isn't MAGA for Trump or MAGA. I say this because we have done some things that the MAGA crowd is strongly against. We voted to keep abortion rights in Ohio. We also vote in great numbers to legalize weed. A lot of Ohioans want progress. But, it keeps on getting pushed back by our MAGA/Christian Nationalist in the state house on laws we voted for. They want to repeal and modify those acts we voted for to push the MAGA agenda.

Ohio is a Midwest state; yet, the state reps want it to run like Alabama or Mississippi where there's hardly any progression. They want to to be more extreme right-leaning. Vivek wants to run the same playbook if he gets elected Governor. I may have my issues with Dewine, but Vivek would be 3x worse if he wins in November. Plus, he would have 100% backing with all the Republicans in Columbus. Once again, these are just my thoughts. Let me know what you think.

Looking Back: The Cavs' 2016 NBA Championship

This week, the Cavs and Cavs fans are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the NBA Championship. Cavs made history by coming back from being down 3-1 to the 73-9 Warriors to win the Cavs' 1st title as well as end Cleveland's 52-year championship drought. A few days later, 1.3 million Cavs fans from far and wide converged in Downtown Cleveland to celebrate for the championship parade.

I remember being at home with my oldest brother (who passed away in 2022), my SIL and a family friend watching Game 7. We were hanging on the edge of our seats, especially in the 4th Quarter. Once the buzzer sounded, we went crazy just hugging each other. Then my best friend and I ended on W. 25th St. celebrating. I remember this one couple out of the blue hugged me. Everyone was in a joyous mood; even the passengers on a passing RTA bus cheered as the driver honked the horn. I remember being Downtown Cleveland for the parade, seeing the players as well as running into some old friends. I felt 10 feet tall that day.

Looking back, what were your memories? What were your favorite moments from that title run? Where were you that night? If it's someone you know, you share their memory too.

I Think LeBron Spoiled Us and Scarred Us at the Same Time

I've been thinking about this during the playoffs and long after the Cavs were eliminated in the ECF. I think most Cavs fans aren't still over the LeBron era, even though he left Cleveland for L.A. 8 years ago. In a lot of ways, the LeBron era spoiled us and scarred us at the same time. LeBron gave us Cavs fans a lot of memories and deep playoff runs as a fanbase that we didn't have prior to him being drafted. Yeah, we had playoff teams in the '80s and '90s, but those teams would get beat in the 1st or 2nd Round. The Price/Daughtery/Nance team made only one ECF appearance.

With LeBron, we were the talk of the sports world. He put the Cavs on the map, and him being a local guy was a bonus. Finally, getting to our first NBA Finals in 2007 is still one of my favorite memories. But, we also were scarred by "The Decision" because of him announcing that he was leaving Cleveland on National TV and feeling like we kicked in the jewels. Plus, we took a lot of hits from media and other fans nationally.

We were definitely spoiled by LeBron's 2nd stint. He returned home as well as had Kyrie and Love alongside him. We went to 4 straight NBA Finals, and won the 2016 NBA title in the most historic way. The parade was one big party in Downtown Cleveland. Then he left again, but this time it was understood because he came back and won us a title. Some fans online still make their digs about (i.e. "The city's so nice LeBron left twice"). But, there are some Cavs fans that still aren't over him leaving Cleveland twice. I think the frustrations fans have with this current team plays a factor due to us being spoiled and scarred. We've been used to all those great memories and we want more of them.

Hot Take: Cleveland Suffers From the Worst Outsider Bias of Any City in the Country

It seems like Cleveland has a lot of outsider bias. Despite the fact, a lot of people have never been. Now, I understand if people visited and it's not their cup of tea. I even get the people who live here or have lived here having their issues and biases. But, Cleveland gets a lot more scrutiny from outsiders who have never been here. It gets that more than any other city in the country. Yeah, other cities get their shares of outsiders' bias, but it hasn't taken hits to their reputations. Their reputations are still in tact. A lot of it is due to social media, meme culture, old jokes and (to a certain extent) sports. Is this take right or wrong?

Opposing Fans From Other Cities Love to Dissing Cleveland During These Playoffs

During the playoffs, it seems like Cleveland as a city has gotten the most hate during the playoffs more than any city. First, Raptors fans were constantly taking shots at Cleveland. Pistons fans have been worse at taking shots at Cleveland. It's gonna be 5x worse with Knicks fans.

On Twitter I saw a lot of Raptors fans and Raptors YouTube creators constantly throwing shade at Cleveland during the series. Now, there were some cool Raptors fans who would talk about the games at hand, but there were a segment of them who would constantly post about how that we still gotta live in Cleveland after we knocked them off last night or before the series.

I've been reading on the sub and on social media. This may not be popular and I'm gonna get a lot of hate. But, a lot of y'all in this fanbase are fairweather fans. It seems like y'all want the Cavs to lose on Sunday just so they can blow it up to be in the lottery. I get that the Cavs should be criticized for some things they did in Game 6 . But, we're about to go into Game 7; a lot of you are yelling blow it up before we even play the damn game. A lot of these posts read like ragebait or bunch of drunk shitposts. Y'all gotta got out of your damn inferiority complex.

This is the playoffs, it's not easy. The LeBron era has either spoiled this fanbase or a lot of fans have become entitled. Rooting for your own team to lose a Game 7 at home, that's bullshit. Y'all give the Cavs all kind of Hell. But, I see a lot of Cleveland sports fans just get excited over the Browns draft, and they haven't won anything. How far will this go? I don't know. But, I'm not rooting for team to lose just for the damn lottery because it's a gurantee that you're gonna build a contender through the lottery.
