Unfair charge nurse, advice?

I am a pretty new nurse (been working almost a year) at an inpatient psych unit. Most days the job is stressful, which is kind of to be expected as a new nurse. The issue I’m having is that whenever one specific charge nurse is working, I seem to be given a super heavy patient load. It’s definitely not just my imagination. Several (like 5 separate nurses on 5 separate shifts) have said to me “oh wow, thats your patient load? I’m sorry that sucks” or “you have those 2 guys? That’s kinda cruel. You probably shouldn’t have both” “you’re getting another d/c then admission? That seems like a lot”. On top of that, this charge nurse doesn’t help with anything. She mostly just plays candy crush? Any idea what I should do in this situation? I am friendly to this charge nurse. Not sure what her problem is. When I was fresh fresh on the unit, most of the charge nurses would give me hard patient loads (nurses eating their young) but the others have eased up … this lady just keeps piling it on. It’s making me want to quit. Advice?

Any luck with SSRIs if you have tinnitus?

I tried BuSpar (worsened my tinnitus quite a lot) then I tried Wellbutrin … also worsened my tinnitus and actually made my inner ears feel sore? :( Next I’m thinking of trying citalopram. Any tips or recommendations from anyone with a similar experience? TIA

Side effects of starting slow and low?

Hey everyone! I am starting either 5mg lexapro or 10mg celexa soon … I am extremely sensitive to SSRIs and always get heavy side effects so I’m planning to start very slow and low and try to stay on as low of dose as possible.

I plan to cut the pills into quarters then go up by a quarter per week or maybe every 2 weeks. Has anyone done that? How were the side effects? Last time I got on an SSRI I basically had to lock myself in my room for 14 days because of how bad my anxiety was. TIA

Buspar side effects finally led up

Just wanted to post because I’ve been looking at this page everyday since I started BuSpar 😂 I was getting pretty bad side effects up until yesterday! So I had these side effects for a solid 3 weeks and then they suddenly stopped. I just wanted to give hope to someone that was feeling like me. Side effects I had: nausea, dizziness, very fatigued, brain fog, easily irritated. What I think helped me: 3x per day dosing instead of 2x per day, proper hydration, and also trying to move around after I take the dose (go for a walk or something). But I think the most important thing was just waiting it out… which was hard because i felt so crappy. Anyways, that’s just my experience! (Not medical advice). Good luck to all of you!

considering RN-psychotherapist route (part time) to get away from bedside (Canadian RN)

basically the title... i find bedside nursing to be pretty exhausting...and i love working in mental health. would be cool to do psychotherapy on the side. anyone have advice on programs? i looked at a few programs -but hard to tell which ones are actually legit. TIA
