hi there!! I’m relatively new to gardening and just got my first fern!! I think it is a ‘lady fern’ and for a few weeks the edges of the plant are going brown?? I’m not sure why, I checked the soil and how much I’m watering it but I don’t know what’s going on with it. I added some photos for reference!! Can anyone advise?? Thanks !! :)
TLDR : my cat uses the litter trays we have (2x large ones) very infrequently e.g he can use both of them in the morning perfectly fine but then in the evening will go to the toilet on the carpet/rug near the trays or he will go to the toilet on the floor and wipe his feet in the litter. i have cleaned everything thoroughly, changed the layout of his litter trays, etc etc but still he won’t consistently use the trays

i’m on my phone so i do apologise if the formatting is weird. i’ve had my cat for a few years now he’s a rescue and came from a bad situation before arriving at the rescue centre. he’s always been particular about the litter trays but we have been able to navigate it happily for quite a while. Since December he has been very contrary about using the litter trays, he will go to the toilet on the rug nearby or on the carpet nearby and then wipe his feet in the litter or he will use one tray to do one thing but then do the other on the floor straight afterwards or he will use one tray and then hours later go on the floor after everything’s been cleaned up.
I have done everything i can think of, I steam/clean the carpet and rug when he does go to the toilet on there, i have changed the size of the litter trays to larger ones, i have changed where they are (out of a discreet cat litter box cabinet and out into the open), i have moved furniture to make the space around the litter trays larger, i have cleaned everything within an inch of its life in the hopes of getting him to consistently use the trays but it is a cycle of doing it in the trays but then not.
is there any advice or anything else i can try to get him to use the trays consistently? or even any explanation for his behaviour?
