How dangerous: step up converter

Hi,

I want to thank anybody that takes a moment to comment and help. I appreciate your time and expertise.

I bought a monoprice monolith subwoofer for my home tv setup that was on sale. The price was so good that I didn’t take the time to read all of the info. I knew this was a sub that I was interested in and the deal seemed amazing.

Turns out it’s made for EU/UK and runs on 220. I started reading forums on different sites to see if using the sub with the step up converter was dangerous and I ended up reading a decent amount that were split between safe and unsafe.

I read that I should have a safety factor of 1-1.5 x’s the wattage. The sub says 500 watts, the converter in bought is 2000watts.

So overall:
Is this dangerous to the point that I should avoid using it altogether?

Are there brands or types of converters that are known to have a better built in safety factor?

I hope this is written in a way that is understandable. I deal with electrical work at times with my job but it’s very basic. Please excuse my ignorance if something doesn’t sound right.

Thank you so much for your help

I have a G5 and a Denon 3800 and I can’t get the Denon menu or and if it’s functions to show on the G5 screen.

If I switch to Apple TV or chrome cast I can see everything normally, but using the LG Home Screen as well as the apps doesn’t allow me to see the Denon menus. I can see them changing in the receiver but nothing appears on screen.
I’ve tried switching the HDMI cable but it’s the same issue every time.

Has anyone else dealt with this and if so, what did you do to fix it?
