IIT Madras BS Data Science enough for US Masters in AI?

I'm currently doing IIT Madras BS Data Science. I'm a US citizen living in India. My goal is to do masters in AI in the US after completing the IIT Madras degree.

Will the IIT Madras BS Data Science degree alone be enough for US masters admissions in AI? Or do I need a traditional BTech alongside it?

Has anyone done this or know someone who has?

Black screen on shutdown/restart - Acer ALG AL15G-53, CachyOS KDE (again :p)

so i just installed CachyOS with KDE Plasma on my Acer ALG AL15G-53 as a dual boot with Windows 11 and everything works fine except every time i restart or shutdown it just goes completely black and the laptop stays on. only fix is holding the power button.

things i already tried:

  • reboot=pci, reboot=acpi, acpi=force, acpi_osi=Linux in grub cmdline
  • disabled nvidia-powerd.service
  • enabled nvidia-resume.service, disabled nvidia-suspend and nvidia-hibernate
  • disabled UEFI Fast Boot in BIOS
  • no graphics switching option in my BIOS
  • masked TPM devices

nothing worked. also the regular kernel (linux-cachyos) boots to black screen too so im using LTS kernel (linux-cachyos-lts).

specs:

  • Acer ALG AL15G-53
  • i5-13420H
  • RTX 3050 6GB
  • 16GB RAM
  • CachyOS rolling + KDE Plasma
  • linux-cachyos-lts kernel

anyone with the same laptop or similar issue please help

Black screen when restarting/shutting down on Acer laptop - CachyOS KDE

Hey, I just installed CachyOS with KDE Plasma on my Acer AL15G-53 (Intel i5-13420H, RTX 3050, 16GB RAM) as a dual boot alongside Windows 11. Everything works fine but whenever I restart or shutdown, the screen goes completely black and the laptop stays on. The only fix is to hold the power button to force stop, then it boots normally to GRUB. I'm using the LTS kernel (linux-cachyos-lts) because the regular kernel also shows black screen on boot. GRUB_DEFAULT is set to "1>1" to auto select LTS. Things I've already tried: acpi=force in GRUB cmdline acpi_osi=Linux in GRUB cmdline reboot=acpi in GRUB cmdline Anyone else had this issue on Acer laptops? Any fix would be appreciated. Specs: Acer AL15G-53 Intel i5-13420H NVIDIA RTX 3050 6GB 16GB RAM CachyOS rolling, KDE Plasma Kernel: linux-cachyos-lts

KDE as a beginner

So I'm planning to dual-boot Windows and Linux, and once I get comfortable enough, make the full switch. Yesterday I tried installing Openbox and it completely backfired 😭.

Should I go with KDE Plasma for now? I've heard it's one of the more beginner friendly DEs. The plan would be gradually migrating to Hyperland once i actually know what I'm doing

Thoughts?
