Hi neighbors! I am a Queens Village resident and member of Community Board 13. I’m excited to invite local families to join the Queens Village Bike Bus (The Funk Line), a volunteer-led initiative to help our kids commute to school safely.

🎵 Welcome to the jumble, we've got bikes and games 🎵- [Bike Jumble this Saturday May 16th 10am at Old Stone House, Brooklyn]

One of the greatest bicycle events in the city is this Saturday May 16th, 10am at the Old Stone House cul-de-sac. It's morphed from a simple flea market / bike swap in to a bicycle mecca with various clubs, shops, advocates, orgs, and groups all converging for a biking good time. Thousands of people cram in to get the best bargains, find out new things, meet new people to bike with or share stories.

Pro tips:

If you see a bike or part you like ask for discounts and deals, don't be scared to haggle (our table frequently accepts "name your own price" deals).

Don't buy the first thing you see, walk and check out everything but don't take too long because someone else probably peeped the same thing.

Look for the pineapple for recession specials (we might not have the bike your looking for but we have the price your looking for). Our deals literally balance the budget.

Call to Action
Looking for anyone with GoPro/helmet-cam footage or who witnessed a volunteer being struck by another cyclist on the Queensboro Bridge on Sunday, May 3rd. Erik suffered a fractured skull and the other rider fled. If you were riding between 10 am & 3 pm and saw anything, please DM me or contact the 108th Precinct.

Rose Gonzalez (sister) posted on Facebook

I posted yesterday asking for prayers and support for my brother, but I wanted to update everyone again.

My brother was seriously injured on May 3rd during the 5 Boro Bike Tour and has been hospitalized at Bellevue Hospital in New York since Sunday. He suffered a fractured skull after being struck by a cyclist while volunteering and helping others who had fallen.

As his sister, I am heartbroken, angry, and struggling to understand how someone could hit another person so hard that they leave them unconscious and then continue riding away as if nothing happened. No race or event is more important than a human life. Injuries like this can leave lasting effects, and our family is terrified about what this could mean for his future.

At the same time, I want to sincerely thank all of our family, friends, and loved ones who have visited him, called, messaged us, checked in, and prayed for him. Your support truly means more than you know during this difficult time. Please continue keeping him in your thoughts and prayers ❤️

WITNESS SEARCH: Volunteer injured in Hit-and-Run on Queensboro Bridge during 5 Boro Bike Tour (May 3)

Call to Action: Witnesses Needed
Looking for anyone with GoPro/helmet-cam footage or who witnessed a volunteer being struck by another cyclist on the Queensboro Bridge on Sunday, May 3rd.
Our friend Erik suffered a fractured skull and the other rider fled. I personally saw him being helped by a firefighter and taken down in a wheelchair with his head bleeding. It was early in the day—likely between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM (Wave 1 or 2).
If you were riding during this time and saw the collision or have video, please help us find answers. No race is more important than a human life.
Please DM me or contact the 108th Precinct with any information. 🙏 😞

To all of our family, friends, and loved ones, we want to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming support, visits, prayers, calls, and messages you have given my brother during these past few days ❤️

We are asking if possible to please pause visits for today while the hospital prepares for his release and next steps in his care.

The doctors have told us that there is not much more they can currently do for him in the hospital. He is conscious, but he is still in a great deal of pain due to the fractures in his skull. Since yesterday afternoon, they have also stopped administering pain medication, which has been very difficult for him.

Right now our family is trying to focus on helping him transition either back home or into a rehabilitation center, depending on what is decided (and especially covered).

We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding, love, patience, and continued prayers during this incredibly difficult time. I will update everyone once he is home or transferred to rehab.

Thank you all again for being there for him and for our family ❤️
