College of Business Marketing vs College of Human Ecology - Consumer Behavior & Marketplace Studies

My daughter is interested in Univ of Wisconsin. We are from California, and while the winters seem daunting, she likes the scene at Madison. She wants to major in Marketing.

Like every business school, Wisconsin has a marketing major, but there is also the Consumer Behavior and Marketplace studies major in the School of Human Ecology.

In general, prob prefer the Business School - Marketing major. Seems more widely applicable.

But she's probably a 50-50 shot to get into the business school. My understanding is that the School of Human Ecology Consumer Behavior would be an easier path to get in - but that's supposition on my part.

Would love to hear opinions on this. How do the two majors compare? Is it really easier to get into the Human Ecology vs College of Business. Is it a big sacrifice to not be part of School of Business for on campus recruiting? What should she think about in making her decision which to apply for?

Any and all takes welcome

22 w/ typical oil issue - some insight needed

2022 with 40K miles (still under warranty as bought in 2023).

Up to 34K and about 3 years, no oil consumption. At about 34K miles started to use oil, now about 1Q every 2K miles. Currently we are running oil consumption test with dealer after bringing it in last week, will be bringing back in a few weeks.

Q1 - if they offer to just fix the valve seals vs a full cylinder head replacement, that seems like a temp fix correct? Eventually, they seals will fail again?. that seems to be the consensus

Q2 - if the valve seals are replaced, does that buy me another 20-30K miles, or can the fundamental issue that causes the seals to fail pop up again right away.

Q3 - any intel on the availabilty of replacement cylinder heads, seen quite a few posts that indicated very long lead times for repalcement.

Q4 - if the issue is the PCV valve, then would we oil seepage at the front of engine, correct? . There isnt any, and I assume the dealer would have noticed that when it was in for the 40K service.

Q5 - Besides being a hassle and having to buy a lot of oil, what are the downstream consequences to the car of burning that much oil?

Full time schools below T15 are desperate for students right now

Two major factors are hitting schools hard this year. 1) the new limits on Grad Plus loans 2) the general atomsphere and challenges around visas and post graduation work in US for internationals.

How bad is it ? someone posted yesterday asking if he should attend Kelley or Mendoza. Both offered him some scholarship money, but he wasnt sure if it was worth it to go now or wait a year or two and try to land a better school.

His backround was 2.9GPA, 575 GMAT and 3 or so years of decent work experience. Those stats got him cash at Mendoza and Kelley. He got feedback that he wasnt likely to do much better with those stats. He pulled the post pretty quickly.

So a 2.9 and a 575 gets you $$$ at "top 25-35" school.

I guess we know the answer if schools were going to shrink their classes or drop their standards.

Prediction - 1/2 or more of the full time residential 2 year programs below the top 20 will be gone in 5-7 years. Wake Forest, Purdue and UICU were ahead of their time.
