Reservation does work but not in the way you think.

My grandparents were labourers. They worked day and night in the fields of upper-caste landowners in our village and nearby villages. They lived in mud houses with thatched roof, and even the roof over their heads was built with a loan taken from a landowner.

A turning point in out life came when my grandfather got a labour job in a government road construction project. It changed our family’s life because, unlike agricultural labour where wages could be delayed or reduced with excuses, this work provided a fixed daily wage. With his earnings, my grandfather saved enough to build a slate-tile roof for our house. He was the first person in our village to have such a roof.

Comming to my father. He is one of the brightest students in his school, his name remains on the school’s list of top rankers board even today in 2026. During the early years of his engineering career, around 20 years ago, he helped build a local road in our hometown. That road is still strong and intact in 2026, and even the upper-caste people of our town appreciate the quality of his work.

When my grandmother became seriously ill, we had to move to the city for her treatment for a month. During that time, without informing us, the village upper-caste members redirected a government water pipeline meant to provide connections to every household through a communal borewell. The pipeline was passed to other houses downhill, leaving our home without a connection in the middle. this left us to walk a long distance to collect water from a hand pump again.

That experience left a deep impact on my father. For a year, he travelled to work by public buses, avoided unnecessary expenses, and saved money. Eventually, he used those savings to dig our own borewell in our field so that our family would not have to depend on anyone for water.

Year before last , during the drought, when the communal well dried up, many people from the UC community who had once ignored us had to rely on our water source. I cannot forget that moment. I know caste discrimination still exists in people’s minds, but necessity sometimes forces people to confront the humanity they try to deny.

For the first time, I saw members of the upper caste community coming to our house not because of social equality, but because they needed water. Even though they didn't want to, they had to come to our place for water regardless of the poison of prejudice they harbored within themselves.

Don't take this Anti-Reservation Matter Seriously!

It's become a pattern of the baman government : in almost every term, the same pattern are brought to the forefront to distract the masses terrorism, hate against minorities, reservations, and crimes against women. Every five years, you can see these same narratives dominating public discourse.

The biggest difference this time compared to previous terms is the internet. Young people from both side now have a voice and a platform. But instead of researching and learning before forming opinions, many people simply repeat whatever fits their beliefs.

Now think about the people who led social reform movements in the past. They weren't fools. They were among the most educated and well-read people of their time. Compare that with baman today who rely on privilege or bogus qualifications which is bought by their papa, instead of knowledge and critical thinking.

Do you really think they can stand against the ideas and intellect of those reformers?

Our Representation, Not Charity

I am seeing a lot of anti-reservation posts, which is inevitable. It always happens whenever UC contribution is close to negligible be it the 1857 rebellion, the Mandal Commission movement, the JNU protests, or now the student protests. UC somehow tries to swoop in at the last moment to steal the show. but that's not even the issue anymore. Most people are aware of their pattern by now.

The real issue here is representation.

See how UC tries to reduce your fundamental rights to just a piece of paper that has your caste written on it. They try to convince the world and gullible people that this is only a caste-related issue and not the social issue, so whenever there's a national-level press conference or interview, the discussion gets limited to caste alone(Inter caste marrige, hounour killings because of caste etc etc).

UC will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

A lot of yous use weak a*s counterarguments online like, "Remove your surname", "3000 years " ,"caste discrimination" whatnot. That's not how historical or structural injustice is addressed.

Babasaheb fought for separate electorates, which he believed would be a more effective way to ensure representation for every community be it Sikh community , Muslim community , or Bahujan communities untill gandhi's intervention led to the Poona Pact, and reservation was adopted instead.

If not reservation, then separate electorate.

If someone ask to remove reservation, ask them one simple question: How will Bahujans get representation in the world of overrepresented UC ?

If reservation is not the solution, then separate electorates become the alternative. In that way bahujan will have independent political representation, separate seats, and separate decision-making power, seprate funds, seprate resources. Then the world can judge for itself who truly believes in merit and who continues to defend a system rooted in Manusmriti.

Dont let them your fundamental rights being use against you.

Reservation is representation not poverty elevation scheme.

Reservation is representation not anti-caste machine.

Reservation is representation and nothing else.

If not Reservation then Separate Electorate.
