Thank you!

Thank you!

Hi 👋 just posting a thank you for hosting my fundraiser.

My original post got flagged for a rule I accidentally broke. So I couldn’t edit it. But none of that matters now 😊

I had posted a fundraiser to help with keeping my podcast going with help to replace a broken laptop, and hoped to get other equipment upgrades.

Family and friends have donated some of the items I needed and the rest was raised by friends and strangers via reddit and Facebook.

🥰

So many kind people are in this forum. Thank you for keeping my podcast on the ‘air’!

Help Keep An Independent Voice Going

I’ve recently launched a new podcast called “Essays from a Strange Country”.

The podcast is a passion project where I explore Australian film, literature, music and art through an academic lens. My aim is to make thoughtful discussions about Australian culture accessible to anyone who’s curious, whether they have a university background or simply enjoy learning something new.

Like many independent creators, I started with what I had. The first episodes were recorded on a $300 gaming laptop with a $30 microphone. It wasn’t a professional setup, but it was enough to begin.

Unfortunately, that laptop has crashed, I have no idea why, and I can’t find a repair person to fix it, which means I can’t continue recording new episodes. I’m hoping to use this opportunity to invest in equipment that will allow me to produce higher-quality audio and continue building the podcast for years to come.

Funds raised will go towards a reliable laptop, a quality podcast microphone, and the essential recording equipment needed to produce future episodes.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly support the continuation of “Essays from a Strange Country” and help improve the listening experience for everyone who follows the podcast.

I’m not sure about rules for links direct to my podcast, but it’s definitely in my Go Fund Me page. So if you’d like to see that I do have an actual podcast then just go through to the Go Fund Me, scroll down, and you’ll be then taken to Spotify.

I’m very open to all questions you might need to ask me. I just like to ask for Americans to be patient as I’m an Aussie in a +10 time zone.

Thank you for your time reading this post. Thank you for your support ❤️

How many editors are there?

How many different types of editors are there for me to choose from?

I know there’s a line editor, development editor, and a finishing editor…. Anything else?

What do they do?

Do I need all of them?

Any personal experiences good/bad?

TIA ❤️ for comments

What is your source for sources?

I’m not a student and I’m limited in funds to access academic sites for sources.

Beyond google scholar, what is your academic site of choice for sources to upload to NotebookLM?

I’m into studying literature, history, and pop culture/modern culture.

TIA❤️

A thief in Kingston

This man scared the shit out of me when he tried breaking into my vehicle. He didn’t know I was inside it.

Kingston council car park and he made his getaway via the church.

I yelled at him and he left as quickly as he could, using the umbrella to shield his face.

Older man. Overweight. White.

Couldn’t get a better pic because I was fumbling my phone.

I’ve no idea if he tried other vehicles, or if the items he is carrying are his or not.

I did put in an information report to police though what I could say is next to useless for them.

Friendly reminder to lock your vehicles ❤️ even if you are sitting inside!!!!!
