In or out based on sound?

In a game I played, a player from the opposite team served a ball that landed near the boundary line on the outside of it. It made a scratchy sound. It was ambiguous whether the ball was in or out because it was really close. The player said the ball was in because he heard the sound. What would you call?

Beach volleyball stats: kill

I would like to get your expert opinion on the definition of a beach volleyball kill. I know the standard definition which is an attack that resulted in a point. However, for a hard swing that was dug uncontrollably back over the net, is that considered a kill for the original attacker? What if there were two or three uncontrolled touches resulting in the ball going back over the net? Are those considered kills for the original attacker as well? Thx.
