Catalyst?

Is there news coming that I’m not aware of?

Or is this just panic?

I have no clue.

I own over 1,000 shares and I love Reddit but this sentiment needs to change.

Management has been silent too. I’m not saying I could do a better job but something needs to change otherwise this will be a dud for a while.

It’s a long term hold for me but I hate to see a great company get taken down by a narrative.

Reddit management needs to taper down SBC and also address the risks instead of PR issued statements about AI deals and product changes / Google SEO.

We need more.

Logged In/Out User Metrics

I think Reddit should continue to disclose logged in / out users. The fact that are discontinuing it amidst search disruption is a huge mistake.

The market wants clarity and feels that Reddit is / will hide any bad data at all costs.

I say embrace it and show they are making investments into turning traffic into logged in users.

Announce AI deals + partnerships with OpenAI to have a new browser and diversify away from Google.

They need to be more proactive about this. It’s incredible how tone deaf management is at times.

Reddit Price Action

Quite comical to see such drastic swings on Reddit today.

I think this is a shake out and will continue to test long term believers.

It sucks but that’s the market. There’s a craze for AI only.

Reddit gets double screwed over because it’s linked with “software” and “adtech” which have both been weak lately.

I don’t get why Reddit is being sold so hard but I’m going to continue adding.

At 1,050 shares @ $145 cost basis + 2,000 shares on the Canadian side @ $14.35 average.

I’ll continue stacking it. It’s not a major position for me but I plan to make it much larger if the market keeps selling it off.

Easy Fixes to make Reddit Better

Quick little point overview as I’ve posted before for Reddit management to implement.

  1. Live Stream / Spaces (like X has)

Easy to encourage discussion and also capture audio data. Gives Reddit more of an edge in selling that to LLMs to train models. I don’t see how this would be tough to do. Maybe only allow verified users to speak / use this feature and allow non-verified to listen in.

I don’t see why X can pull it off and Reddit can’t.

  1. Make posting easier

It’s really fucking difficult to post on this app. This needs to be changed ASAP. Literally look at X, it’s easy to navigate. Reddit needs to embody that approach. Meta Threads was an X rip off and it did well for Meta, Reddit needs to embody that approach and still keep human content and value here.

  1. UI Changes / AI Features

Why is this app so difficult to navigate? I also think there should be an “AI” button like X has where you can analyze a post WITHIN Reddit and not have to leave the app. Would be a lot easier to digest some content on here that’s length or too complex to understand.

  1. Market place

I’m unsure if Reddit already has this but there should be some sort of marketplace where Reddit users can shop for products (maybe linked to Shopify)? Seems like an easy thing to do.

Ultimately it’s to make Reddit users never have to leave this app. A lot of these changes I’ve listed are low hanging fruit and I’m unsure why management has not done this yet.

Ideas to Make Reddit Better

Hi Redditors and hopefully Reddit C-Suite Team!

I’m a new Reddit user. I really love this platform. However I feel like there are a few things that would make this platform so much better than others like X and Instagram.

1-

  1. Discourage moderators banning over non-trivial things

I have seen posts on X of famous Redditors like Serenity who got banned off of Reddit and now are on X bringing a whole new user base over from Reddit with them.

This could simply be stopped by having the moderators document why they feel the need to ban Reddit posters and have a third party team check it. Just an idea, I’m new to this platform.

2 - UI is very complex

X is very easy to use and while I don’t like Elon Musk that much I think his team did a fabulous job at making X easy to use. And because of that, people stay on. Reddit is a bit archaic and still is a bit messy to find communities that I like or would like. I think an easy fix is to change Reddit from a threads style to a comment style, I’ve seen changes of that on this app a bit with the retweet / repost button but still a bit clunky and hard to navigate.

3 - AI implementation

Reddit Ask is a great feature and I use it a lot to find good communities. I think there should be a feature where you can use AI to help spell check posts like Grok has. The goal should be to keep a Reddit user on the app at all times rather than have to switch off to use ChatGPT to research something.

4 - The Biggest One - Leverage What Reddit is good at : Building communities that are powerful

Wall Street Bets is a good example of why I came on Reddit. There is actually a lot of alpha and great write ups done in that community that you just don’t find on X or another platform.

Reddit management should lean into these big communities to really drive growth.

Losing serenity to X was a huge loss and I think Reddit should find ways to keep those users on this app even if it’s via subscription that can be enabled to get them to post here.

I am no genius in this space but I think copying features from X or Instagram is low hanging fruit.

Only certain posters should be allowed to be verified and have a subscription function enabled.

5 - Easy one : Short Form Video content

Don’t need to say much about this. TikTok and Instagram did very well with reels. Why that’s not on this app is beyond me. There should be more of a focus for human content and not AI slop but the fact that I don’t see any short form content is weird because it’s an easy way to attract people on this app and keep them on (mainly brain rotted teenagers).

Just my thoughts - Feel free to chime in and say why you agree or disagree.

I also find posting on this app very cumbersome. Maybe if there was a way to make this easier because I got multiple posts removed for “low effort” by moderators even though I wrote as much as I am writing now.
