Rain for my entire visit to Milan/Lake Como. Any indoor activities?

Hi everyone. I’m flying to Milan tomorrow, August 19 and was planning to spend Thursday through Saturday between Milan and Lake Como. Unfortunately, it seems that it will be rain and thunderstorms for my entire visit. Here was the original itinerary:

Wednesday: Arrival into Milan. Explore Duomo.

Thursday: Varenna and Bellagio

Friday: Milan city center and canals

Saturday: Como city and Brunate funicular

It seems my entire plan is ruined. Any ideas for indoor things to do in Milan? Is anyone else in the same situation, what are you planning to do?

My flight leaves from Milan Sunday morning and I already paid for my hotel, so I can’t really go to a different region of Italy (I’ve been to southern Italy already). Thank you.

LAX to London Heathrow Business Class 73.5k points, good redemption?

Hey everyone! I’m debating on whether to book this for economy versus business for August, and I can make arguments for both. The economy cost in points is a steal, and would allow me to preserve more points for future trips. At the same time, having a lay flat seat would be great.

I’d love insights into whether it’s possible to find better deals, as I might be headed to Japan this fall and could utilize points there. For context, I currently have under 100k points and my loyalty is split between several airlines due to the nature of my travels. I don’t have status on American, but I do have the credit card. Thank you!

6 Days in Milan (with day trips to Como and Venice)

Hi everyone. I will be traveling to Italy August 6-13, giving me six full days in Milan (flying in and out of Milan airport). I’m trying to figure out the best way to plan out my trip so that I experience some of northern Italy.

For some background: I visited Italy for the first time last year and spent time in Rome, Amalfi Coast, and Florence. This year, I want to focus on the northern area, especially Lake Como.

Day One: Arrive in Milan and check into hotel

Day Two: Explore Milan

Day Three: Train to Varenna and ferry to Bellagio

Day Four: Day trip to Venice (yes, I know it will be a very long day)

Day Five: Rest day in Milan/shopping

Day Six: Train to Como town to explore

Day Seven: Explore Milan and pack

Day Eight: Early morning flight

I would appreciate feedback. I am open to not staying only in Milan if I can find an affordable hotel in Como or Varenna. But I will have two suitcases, so trying to minimize hotel changes. Thank you!

New Flight Launching Between SNA and Washington DC!

Hey everyone. Just heard that United Airlines is launching direct flights this August between John Wayne (SNA) and Washington DC (IAD/Dulles). This is great news for those of us who travel to the DC area often and have been stuck with LAX until now. It’s about damn time.
