Someone help with hiatal hernia stuff
I have a history of a hiatal hernia and gastritis that I was diagnosed with about three years ago. For the most part, I haven't had constant problems with it, but I've had a few flare-ups this year.
Recently, my symptoms seem to happen right after my period. I start having nausea, acid reflux, stomach discomfort, and pressure in my chest, especially at night when I'm lying down. I feel like I can breathe, but there is a pressure or uncomfortable sensation in my chest. I've noticed that lying on my right side seems to make it feel better.
I've also started noticing a strange sensation in my esophagus or throat. When I cough, it feels like something is being irritated or itchy inside, and sometimes coughing makes me hiccup..
I'm concerned that something may be irritating my esophagus, possibly from acid reflux or my hiatal hernia. I don't feel like food is actually stuck because I can swallow normally, but it feels like there is something there or like the area is irritated.
I've also been constipated recently.
I would like to know if my hiatal hernia or acid reflux could be causing these symptoms, whether my esophagus is irritated or inflamed, and whether there is anything else that could explain the chest pressure, coughing, hiccups, and nausea. I also want to know what I can do to prevent these flare-ups from continuing, especially since they seem to happen after my period.
I have an endoscopy scheduled, so I would like to know someone has been going thru something similar or the same?
sn- I had ct scans done and everything seems normal still waiting for the 2nd endocopy to see.
Period→ GI flare → nausea → reflux → esophageal/throat irritation → chest pressure/tickle → coughing → hiccups.
