Gen 1 Legion Go + Gen 2 controllers? Is the ergonomics upgrade worth it?

Hey everyone,
I am currently considering entering the PC handheld market on a more modest budget and have in mind a particular setup. I really do want the Z1 Extreme's performance and the huge 8.8-inch screen found on the original Legion Go (as buying a new ROG or a Go S is far too costly), but I am having trouble with the standard controllers. The blocky and sharp design just doesn't seem very comfortable to hold when playing for long periods of time.
Now I'm thinking about a hybrid build:
Getting a second-hand original Legion Go
Buying separate Legion Go 2 controllers to use with it for a major upgrade in hand comfort and grip
Although the way the device fits into the rails isn't exactly the same and there is a small aesthetic mismatch, I still care much more about how it feels to hold since I mainly play in handheld and tabletop mode and intend to use it with a plain wallpaper and a simple tablet case.
My questions for you guys:

  1. Has anybody in this group actually attempted using Legion Go 2 controllers with a Gen 1 frame?
  2. To what extent is the comfort when holding the device better than that of the original, blocky stock controllers?
  3. Does the physical gap or mismatch cause annoyance when the game is actually being played, or can one get used to it?
I should be interested to know your experiences or what you think about this. Thank you in advance!
