Testing results on instant commits

I got curious and bored and decided to do a bunch of testing, many hours worth, and came up with some answers on instant recruits. Biggest takeaways below…

  1. Instant commits are way more rare this year without the Dream School perk. In the two past versions of the game, you could get a 5-star to instant commit about 5 percent of the time assuming you are the recruit’s top choice. It happens far less often this year.

  2. Higher star recruits are less likely to instant commit. I didn’t keep exact stats, but 4-star recruits still seem to commit about 5 percent of the time. But 5-star recruits are far less likely. More like 1 percent.

  3. The Dream School perk is worth it this year. You’ll get an instant commit about 10 percent of the time. Even 5-star recruits are far more likely to commit.

  4. NIL doesn’t seem to matter. Offering max NIL doesn’t seem to make a difference. I didn’t try low-balling high level recruits, but offering the default NIL didn’t appear to lower chances at an instant commit.

  5. Important to note that, at least in Week 0, the commit screen doesn’t come up when you succeed. You have to tab back over from the recruiting actions options to the overview for the recruit to see if it worked. I spent hours doing this thinking it was impossible this year before I realized the commit screen just wasn’t coming up.

Can we get team celebrations

Why can’t we get some celebrations where teammates get involved after touchdowns? I don’t mean choreographed routines. Just jumping with each other and stuff. That is way more common than most of the individual celebrations in the game, many of which would get you flagged in real life.

A little thing but… why fake fighter jets?

There is no copyright to be violated for including an F-16, F-15, F-22, etc. So why are we getting some fake fighter jet that looks like some experimental forward swept wing nonsense? To be clear, there is recent case law on this. Activision won a case against the makers of Humvees when they got sued for including them in Call of Duty. Activision won on First Amendment grounds. But even if they decide it’s not worth the risk of a legal fight because it’s not even a military game, they could still come up with something that looks close enough to a jet we actually fly. These look a lot like a couple of prototype planes designed by both the U.S. and Russia, but it isn’t an exact likeness. They could do the same for a normal looking jet.

Cornerback recruits are dumb

Usually, it is a good thing that corners upgrade their awareness with man or zone coverage (depending on archetype). But I’ve notice an issue where, because their coverage ratings can be so much higher than their awareness at freshman year, they will usually cap out on that coverage stat while their awareness is still garbage. This guy was a a five star elite dev trait corner, and he is a beast. But I’m going to cap out his man coverage, and he will be lucky to get to 80 awareness. This is a problem with all the corners I have recruited.
