Minor drop effect on PS 2

Dualite here, 23 batch.

Can anyone please clarify something regarding the finance minor?

I applied for the finance minor in my 2nd year, but later in my 3rd year I decided to drop it so that I could focus on improving my CGPA. I completed only FOFA and got a C grade in it, and I’m no longer pursuing the remaining finance minor courses.

My doubt is regarding PS2 and company visibility:

Will dropping the minor create any issue during PS2?

Will the college show my offshoot as 6 because of the dropped minor, or will it simply not appear to companies?

Does dropping the finance minor after doing only FOFA affect PS2 opportunities in any way?

If anyone has clarity on how this is reflected to companies during PS2, please let me know.

Advice from seniors about career path

Hi everyone,

I am a dual-degree student (Mechanical as my second degree) currently heading into my 4-1 semester. I’m looking for some honest perspective on my current academic and career trajectory.

Current Situation:

CGPA: Currently 6.7. I am working to push this to 7.0+ by the end of 4-1.

The Minor Dilemma: I recently decided to drop my Finance Minor. My reasoning was that even with the minor, my CGPA might not be competitive enough for top-tier Finance firms during PS2, and I was concerned that the additional rigorous coursework might further suppress my CGPA.

Interest: I don't dislike Finance, but I’m prioritizing a GPA recovery and cost-efficiency.

Request for Guidance: Since I am a dualite opting for a Double PS2, I want to broaden my horizons beyond the Finance sector. I would love your insights on the following:

Alternative Domains: How viable are Consulting, Product Management (PM), or Data Science roles for someone with a ~7.0 CGPA and a Mechanical background?

PS2 Strategy: Which companies or sectors should I target for my dual PS2 that value problem-solving skills or technical projects over a specific Finance minor?

Skill Building: For someone starting now, what specific certifications or projects should I prioritize in my 4th year to be competitive for non-core roles?

I’d appreciate any advice from seniors who have navigated similar CGPA constraints or successfully pivoted away from their minor.

Thanks in advance for your help!
