What's your most unpopular opinion relating to Zambia?

For me, I think my most unpopular opinion would be Edgar Lungu(mhsrip) was the worst president Zambia has ever had.

He put Zambia in a lot of debt. I don't think I need to go any further.

I also remember when he was in power, the inflation was just wow. I vaguely remember it but there was a point when $1 was equal to K30. Holy inflation, that was so crazy!

Oh and not to be rude, but I never understood that guy unless there were subtitles 😭

Hbu?🙂

Do you believe in respecting the old?

So there was this one time I was just scrolling productively on Instagram and not at all doom scrolling 😅

I had an encounter with a video of somebody saying and I'm just gonna paraphrase this coz I can't find the original video, “i still don't believe in respecting the old bc stupid people get old too. They just be walking around wrinkly and stupid.”

That video had me on the floor but I was also like, “hey that's so rude!”

In retrospect, I have had some encounters with people way older than me that I started questioning if they are really older than me. Their behavior sent me aback.

So how about y'all? What do you think about this and have you had some circumstances where people older than you act illogical? Please share😭

“Zambia kuchalo”?

So we are all on TikTok, right?

My fyp mainly is not Zambian so when content is pushed to my fyp it's almost always a non-zambian person talking about Zambia.

While writing this I realize that I'm not usually updated with what's going on in my own country and I think I should change and have interest in Zambian content too😭😅. Please don't sue me.

That aside, whenever somebody mentions Zambia, I'll see a lot of comments like “Zambia kuchalo 🇿🇲” completely oblivious to what the video is all about.

Yes I get that we have to be patriotic and stuff but do we have to completely ignore what the video is all about??👁️👄👁️

Even tho comments like that are there, I still see people actually commenting what the video was about and I love to see that. Sometimes the person might even metion something I didn't even know and that fuels my my ability to learn especially since it's about Zambia. Kudos!

Yeah so that was my experience and I would love to know what your thoughts are about this.

Why is mental health overlooked in Zambia?

19 year old Zambian male here and I've noticed something within our communities, and that's mental health.

When children do not perform well in school they are perceived and judged to be dumb, cannot be taught or just a plain imbecile. Meanwhile, the cause of such behavior from children might be as a result of some mental disorders such as autism or ADHD and the like.

I wish we could provide a way to sensitize about such cases. They are hurting children and diminishing productivity.

Let's stop with the stigma, lets not judge but understand.

Mental health is also Health.

Should abortion be allowed in Zambia?

Hi everyone! I'm a 19 year old male and a feminist.

Today, I was just wondering about abortion and the impact it has on women. Personally, as a man, I don't think I have the right to tell a woman if she should abort or not because I will never be pregnant and I will never feel what it's like to be pregnant and deal with a lot of challenges whether that maybe physical and emotional.

Before I go any further, I just want this to be a discussion. If you have anything rude to say, please just keep it to yourself, thank you.

If a 12 year old girl is raped, we expect her to keep the child, even tho she is still young and potentially put her life on the line. Why not abortion?

I get that we are a Christian nation and stuff but we have to make the right decision. Stay with me here, bcoz if we are going by the commandment that, “do not murder” how about the other commandments we fail to keep?

Statistically speaking, men cause more harm and lead in crime. In those crimes many of the commandments are broken, which I won't mention.

While on that matter, what about brain dead people? Does ending their lives considered killing, murder and disgusting?

For those who may not know, brain death is the complete, permanent, and irreversible loss of all brain function, including the brainstem

A brain-dead person may still look or feel "alive" because artificial life support (like a ventilator) keeps the heart beating and oxygen pumping through the body. However, this is purely a mechanical process; the person is deceased, and if the machine is turned off, breathing and heart activity will stop.

I ask the question again. Is it still murder and unacceptable?

I personally think it should be up to the family members of that person to make the decision whether they should keep living or not. Same goes for abortion, let the WOMEN decide. Thank you.

Why are Reddit Zambians so smart?

Hey y'all! I'm 19 years old and I just noticed that Zambians here are pretty cool and share good insights (I'm Zambian too btw).

No bc people here actually make sense unlike whatever I've seen on TikTok from the posts to the comments. But yeah I've seen some good people too there. Heavy on the “some” btw.

You guys here are so sophisticated, understand those intellectual jokes, funny and it's unbelievably enjoyable by far.

Well I wouldn't say that everything's been smooth. I did have a run-in with some rather unsavory characters but the majority of you are creme de la creme!

I'm so HAPPY!

Is it bad that I have this accent as a Zambian?

So I'm a 19 year old man and I have been mildly patriotic about being Zambian. But that's that not the deal here—i still love my country and feel grateful when it's recognized and when it's improving as a country.

Even growing up I had a slight Zambian accent, mostly mixed with American with a skosh of British English. People would question me about where I'm from and I'd be like, “Well...here coz I'm zambian.” they'd be like, “oh really you don't sound like it.”

I kid you not, I still sounded Zambian and used the local dialect too. They just didn't know how to distinguish accents .

Later on I decided I would just use one accent and I chose American. Everytime I opened my mouth, people would suddenly look at me and I'm like wtf. I've been called white, unpatriotic, gay etc for having this accent.

The reason I even decided to have this accent is because it naturally reinforces my flow when speaking. It's easier for me to convey what I want to say in this accent and it just feels like me to be honest. I've been an introvert my whole life, so using this accent feels more natural for more to use. Idk if I'm making a compelling point here but this is all I can muster to say.

Sometimes I naturally code switch to match the age, energy of particular people I'm taking to. To my surprise I do this naturally, but when I want to imitate the Zambian accent like the rest of y'all speak, I tend to fail .

My question is, is it bad that I have the American Accent as a Zambian?
