I will be taking a deferred exam soon, and from my understanding, the Lapse to Grade that you see on the UCalgary portal under the deferred exam section is the grade you would get if you don't attend the exam. It used to be F which makes sense but now its C, which is impossible considering the fact that the final exam is worth 50% of the grade. Is this a mistake or a result of a curve that I don't know about, and are the lapse to grades final or can they be changed by faculty?

If anybody else has gone through something similar feel free to share
