Which VFD is right for my Motor and is my Motor right for the Job?
I recently purchased an old lathe, the motor is 3 phase but in my home shop of course I only have single phase. I will post my motors spec sheet. (1st and 2nd pic)
Automation direct recommended the following VFD (3rd pic) which could provide up to 5 Horsepower (HP) given my motor. But my concern is that my lathe was sold with a 3 HP motor. I have the following questions that hopefully someone smarter than me can answer!
Can my motor be configured to run at 3HP given the specs?
Is it smart to run my lathe with a 5HP motor when it was sold with only a 3HP?
Is it worth it to convert my lathe to a single phase motor or is purchasing an addon VFD to run my big motor worth it?
Is this VFD good for my motor?
