No on Measure CC

Measure CC is bad for East Palo Alto because residents already have the power to remove councilmembers who are ineffective by voting them out. We do not need an arbitrary rule taking that choice away from voters. Term limits can also weaken the political voice of low income communities, where it is already difficult for working class residents and community rooted candidates to find the time, money, and resources needed to run for office. Meanwhile, developers and other wealthy interests can continue pouring money into elections and supporting candidates who will protect their interests and put profits over people. Instead of creating more democracy, Measure CC could make it harder for grassroots leaders to build experience and remain in office while well funded interests simply recruit and finance new candidates. East Palo Alto residents should decide who represents them, not an artificial term limit.

From the BayAreaCali community on Reddit: Two community members being racially profiled by ICE agents East Palo Alto, CA, USA 07/03/2026

People are here complaining about fireworks when the real focus should be on protecting our community from ICE.

Just a reminder that the city spent $85,000 for the Countywide Grand Nexus Study

Why are we trying to change the IHO before the results of the Nexus Study come out? This is just fiscally irresponsible and shows that this council will continue to waste tax payers money.

Come to the council meeting on Tuesday to protect the IHO. We should wait until the nexus study results comes out before changing the IHO. (especially since the city put tax dollars into the study)

Thoughts on the city moving forward with a measure on the ballot for November to build a new city hall, library, and police department (all in one building I believe). Care to share thoughts in comment section.
