Hot take R143s will run on the M regularly within next decade.
With Canarsie getting its CBTC system upgrade by the end of the decade it will almost certainly mean the R143s CBTC system will be upgraded to the modern one. This would be huge because now the All ENY lines fleet will be fully interchangeable. The R160s starting in 8400-8600 will be able to run on the L no problem as well as the 4 car set R179s. The R143 since they are getting older can be put on the M line which is a part time line and will be compatible with the QBL CBTC.
