IMP* WHAT SHOULD THE NEXT 6 MONTHS LOOK LIKE

hi so this is my mri summary :

Partial annular tear at L5-S1

Mild broad-based posterior central and bilateral paracentral L5-S1 disc protrusion (left more than right)

Mild irritation/contact of the bilateral traversing and exiting nerve roots (left greater than right)

Grade 1 anterolisthesis of L5 over S1

Early disc desiccation (degenerative disc changes)

Mild L3-L4 disc bulge

Mild L4-L5 disc bulge

Straightening of lumbar lordosis

Minimal positional scoliosis

I am bout 4 weeks into this journey and these 4 weeks let's say I did everything wrong from bad position to smoking and alcohol to partying and fapping etc anyways moving on i have now decided to dedicate the next 6 months or more to active and proper recover.

What should my blueprint sort of for recovery look like for the next 6 months as to when I should start pt and next move to exercise and then to strength ing(gym) etc like what should be the general timeframe according to you

I know obviously whenever I feel my pain reducing i should advance to the next step but what did your blueprint look like and what precautions I should take

Few things:

I would love to get as physically active as possible without pain ofc

Join a gym(no deadlift or squats tho)

Ride ma sweet motorcycle(zx6r)

So any advice is very much appreciated 😁👍

NEED URGENT ADVICE** FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH DISC BULDGE, SCIATICA, ANNUALR TEAR

Hey so you might have seen other posts of mine but I wanted to make this final post to clear up my doubts

I am 4 weeks into my journey and along the way I had a lot of ciggerates, weed, alcohol, heavy masturbation, long hours of sitting etc I have had flare ups in the middle and also this pins and needles sensation in my lower back nd (buttock) and have also been aware of my back type feeling, since this is very early on in the journey I wanted to know if I messed up this bad in the first 4 weeks does this mean the next 6 month have also been ruined and my recovery is completely fked or some sort of irreversible damage has occurred,am very tensed about this

I have quit everything for now and decided to take this seriously this time but I need to know should I get an mri again or how do I know if I messed up bad or should I just stop worrying and continue my journey proper this time tho

This is my mri summary

Partial annular tear at L5–S1

Mild broad-based posterior central and bilateral paracentral L5–S1 disc protrusion (left more than right)

Mild irritation/contact of the bilateral traversing and exiting nerve roots (left greater than right)

Grade 1 anterolisthesis of L5 over S1

Early disc desiccation (degenerative disc changes)

Mild L3–L4 disc bulge

Mild L4–L5 disc bulge

Straightening of lumbar lordosis

Minimal positional scoliosis

URGENT*does masturbation make(disc buldge, annular tear, sciatica worse) need geniune help

Hi so I am 21(M) and I don't mean to be a creep or anything like that but am in desperate and geniune need of help or advise as to does masturbation make it all worse (making a shorter post)

This is my mri summary:

Partial annular tear at L5–S1

Mild broad-based posterior central and bilateral paracentral L5–S1 disc protrusion (left more than right)

Mild irritation/contact of the bilateral traversing and exiting nerve roots (left greater than right)

Grade 1 anterolisthesis of L5 over S1

Mild L3–L4 disc bulge

Mild L4–L5 disc bulge

Straightening of lumbar lordosis

Minimal positional scoliosis

I have had a few sessions like 7-8 ish(laying down) and would geniune like to know does it make it worse in anyway as before I did sometimes feels my back or lower back pain after this not unbearable bht I did feel it. I am ready to quit but up until now I am 4 weeks into my journey could it have caused some type of irreversible damage or further damaged it

Geniune help or advice is very much appreciated

URGENT(Does masturbation worsen disc buldge, annular tear or sciatica)

So I am 21(M) I am 4 weeks into my recovery and I have a few sessions of 'fapping" along the line (7)(including one today to be precise) and it struck me whether or not this could be further making symptoms worse cause I just got in a rough patch of life and can't smoke or drink so this was the one way i thought I could release some stress but anyhoe am ready to completely stop for a year if it worsens my thing.

Note*-sometimes when after my session if I did it like 2-3 times in a row( don't judge 😐) I did feel my back in a weird way like I was aware of it idk what it was but it has since been ok I don't feel anything new per say but i would like to know your opinion on this as I didn't finally any other post

1.did it like worsen my symptoms or can it

2.if i stop wil they get better

3.did i fk up my nerves or some shi?

Thanks to all this who answer ♥️

This is my mri summary of it helps

The most important abnormality: L5–S1 disc problem

This line is the core issue:

> “Partial annular tear with mild broad-based posterior central & bilateral paracentral disc protrusion at L5-S1…”

Let’s break that down carefully.

---

  1. Partial annular tear

A spinal disc has:

a soft inner center

a tougher outer ring called the annulus

An “annular tear” means the outer ring has developed a crack/small tear.

Severity

Your report says:

partial

not massive

not ruptured/extruded severely

---

  1. Disc protrusion at L5–S1

This means the disc is bulging outward.

Your report describes it as:

mild

broad-based

central + paracentral

more toward the left

That matches left-sided sciatica symptoms.

---

Why L5–S1 matters

L5–S1 is:

the lowest lumbar disc

the most stressed disc in the spine

very commonly injured

It handles:

bending

lifting

twisting

sitting pressure

That’s why disc problems frequently happen there.

---

  1. Nerve involvement

This line matters a lot:

> “indents bilateral traversing (L>R) and exiting nerve roots”

Meaning:

the disc is touching/irritating nerve roots

more on the left

This is what produces:

sciatica

radiating pain

tingling

burning sensations

tight hamstrings/calf

sometimes foot symptoms

---

Severity of nerve compression

Important nuance:

Your MRI does NOT say:

severe compression

marked compression

obliteration

severe stenosis

nerve root impingement with major deficits

Those words would indicate a much more dangerous situation.

Instead your report suggests:

mild-to-moderate irritation/contact

That is usually treated conservatively first.

---

  1. Grade 1 anterolisthesis

This means:

L5 vertebra slipped slightly forward over S1

The key detail:

Grade 1 = smallest/mildest category

Severity scale roughly:

Grade 1 = mild

Grade 2 = moderate

Grade 3–4 = severe

So yours is at the low end.

---

---

  1. Early disc desiccation

This means:

discs are losing some water content

Healthy discs are well hydrated.

Dehydrated discs:

absorb shock less efficiently

become more prone to bulging

---

Severity at your age

At 21, hearing this sounds alarming.

But:

“early desiccation” is extremely common on MRIs now

many people have it without disability

It does NOT mean:

your spine is “dead”

irreversible collapse

inevitable surgery

---

  1. Mild bulges at L3-L4 and L4-L5

These are relatively minor findings.

Your MRI specifically says:

> “no significant nerve root compression”

So these levels are not the main problem.

---

  1. Straightening of lumbar lordosis

Normally the lower back has a curve.

“Straightening” often happens due to:

muscle spasm

guarding from pain

posture

This is very common in acute back pain.

Usually reversible.

---

  1. Minimal scoliosis

The report says:

> “?Positional”

Meaning they even suspect it may just be posture during the scan.

This is not a major scoliosis report.

---

Overall severity assessment

If we categorize spinal MRIs broadly:

Mild

tiny bulges

no nerve contact

Mild-to-moderate ← yours fits around here

annular tear

protrusion

nerve irritation

sciatica symptoms

mild vertebral slip

Severe

massive herniation

severe stenosis

major weakness

bowel/bladder symptoms

significant instability

Your MRI does not fall into the severe category.

Stopping now can still meaningfully improve:

healing environment

pain levels

circulation

recovery speed

future degeneration risk

Your body at 21 still has a strong recovery capacity compared to someone doing this for 20–30 years.

---

Realistic outlook

Most people with findings like yours improve through:

time

physiotherapy

walking

gradual strengthening

avoiding reinjury

Some get occasional flare-ups later, but many return to:

gym

work

sports

normal functioning

Damn yo my bad didn't know if would go this long

This MRI is something to take seriously and rehab properly — not evidence that your life is permanently destroyed.
