My take on a PM fighting game + archetypes (full series spoilers)

( u/TryProfessional1790 did this first)

Overall, I tried to widely cover the series in a 20 character base roster, and 4 dlc seasons with 5 characters each

Biggest flaw that immediately stands out to myself is the big lack of noteable limbus villains. Lei Heng, Rien, and Dongbaek would be great fits, but I don't think I would budge on any of these characters for them, maybe if there was a season 5, but i decided to stick with 4.

Now for the character overview. I'll talk about each character, why I picked them, and a short sentence on how they'd play. Archetypes are on the second image in case you don't wanna read my long ramblings.

~ Base Roster ~

Angela: Practically the face of the series, would just be wrong to exclude her. She'd be a generalist, with decent tools all around, but with abit more focus on zoning. She'd take alot from her combat appearance in LoR.

Roland: Secondary protagonist of LoR along side Angela. If there's any place a fighting game would take place, the Library would make most sense, I'd say. Roland would be very fundamentals focused, a strong all-rounder with lots of good tools at his disposal. Furioso is an obvious choice for a super.

Kali/Geb: Whatever point she's chosen from doesn't matter, either way she's the Red Mist. A fast, heavy hitting rushdown character who won't let the opponent breath.

Binah: Specifically Binah, not Garion. A weakened arbiter, but still an arbiter none the less. Works at a range, her pillar would be a slow firing, but fast moving projectile the hits for huge blockstun or a hard knockdown. She can use space or a knockdown to set up her utilities.

Moses: Team Leader, Distortion Detective, with an EGO of her very own. Moses would like to keep space even more than Binah, using smoke to keep the opponent out, and create ideal situation for herself

Ezra: Certified golden retriever. Ezra would be a heavy hitting big body, but that wouldn't exactly mean she's slow. She wouldn't get as easy access to mix-ups as a rushdown, but she'd keep the pressure up and hit like a truck.

Vespa: Rounding out the DD trio (sorry Yuria) is Vespa, he'd have solid screen control with Gungnir, though to get proper value out of hits he'll still need to get up close.

Gregor: First of the Limbus cast, Gregor is the Smoke War Vet**™** Potential Man**™**. He'd be like Dhalsim or Axl, extending his bug arm for far reaching normals. He'd have a strong reversal super to treat the opponent like Lucio.

Sinclair: Along side Gregor, Sinclair was the focus of one of the first 3 Limbus cantos, and brings the power of the mark. Sinclair would be a gorilla type character, just wanting to get up in the opponent's face and throw out attacks. Potential for A Certain Sinclair install super.

Ryoshu: One of the strongest from the Limbus cast, as judged by Hohenheim, Ryoshu would be a very fundamentals based character. The only aspect of a shoto she'd be missing is a projectile

Vergillius: The new red colour, the Red Gaze. Vergillius would be a resource based stance character; by default he's a decent rushdown who needs to get close up, but once he can pop his ego, he gets alot stronger, and has access to more options from everywhere on the screen.

Myo: One of the only characters outside of the Seed of Light project to be here since Lob Corp, and representative for R corp. Myo would be a very fast paced character, dashing around the screen and throwing out rapid attacks.

Argalia: Leader of the Reverberation Ensemble, primary antagonist of LoR, and colour fixer. Argalia would be a rushdown with very strong mix-up potential, constantly putting his opponent into a guessing game.

Pluto: "Pipe organ" of the Ensemble, Pluto often appears along side Argalia throughout the game, and is a formidable opponent. Pluto would fight like JP from Street Fighter, summoning magic circles from which he can attack from at odd angles, making it very hard for his opponent to approach.

Elena: "First Violin" of the Ensemble, the Blood-Red Night, Elena appears along side Pluto and Argalia in the distorted ensemble finale. Elena would want to get blood resources from attacking her opponent, which she could then spend to set up difficult to respond to situations once her opponent is knocked down.

Iori: The Purple Tear, the elusive space and time hopping colour fixer, who's the very reason LoR could start with Roland. Iori's kit is best known for her stances, so Iori would retain each of her 4 stances, each of which changing her gameplay almost completely for any scenario.

Philip: One of the longest running (heh) characters in Ruina's story, not taking his position in the ensemble yet, Philip would be similar to Verg, building resources to get his EGO. At base, Philip is weak, and has more resources to get away from his opponent than putting pressure on them, but with EGO, Philip would turn into a powerful gorilla, striking over and over.

Nemo: I felt like I had to have one curveball in the base roster, Nemo might not be the most important in LoR, but he stands out to anyone, having an Ipad for a face that he shoots lasers from (and he always appears in limbus's update screen). He'd have a simple gameplan: shoot full screen lasers, build charge, and shoot stronger full screen lasers.

Hohenheim: Last of the base roster, both the writers and the fandom have both seemed to grow quite fond of Hohenheim, for good reason. He'd appear in his AEDD EGO gear, having another charge resource (though not the same as Nemo). Preferring to stay on the backline, Hohenheim would focus on keeping the opponent at bay while he builds his resources, which then allow him access to more options for offense.

~ DLC Pass 1~

Yan: First of the DLC cast, Yan is another popular and long running LoR character. We only fight him distorted, but can get an idea of his fighting style from his weapon and key page. Yan would be a slow moving heavy attacker, with his giant blade.

Yujin: The Shi aren't exactly the type for brawls, preferring to take their opponents out in single strikes. As such, Yujin would be a glass cannon, having high damage potential in Boundary of Death.

Greta: "Drum" of the ensemble, everyone remembers the big cannibal shark lady. Greta would be the quintessential grappler, has a hard time getting in, but once she's in, it's game over.

Sayo: Captain of the Kurokumo Clan, Sayo would have a simple gameplan; get in, and keep slashing.

Xiao: One of the most memorable boss fights of LoR, Xiao would constantly have her EGO manifested. She would use very heavy attacks, not easy to hit, but very rewarding when they do. The more she hits, the stronger she gets, along with burning her opponent, making it harder for them to fight back or keep a life lead.

~DLC Pass 2 ~

Oswald: "Clarinet" of the ensemble, being the fun-loving tricky clown that he is, Oswald would be a trapper character, filling the field with all sorts of tricks and traps to catch the opponent off guard at the right time.

Hong Lu: Hong Lu's not too complicated, he'd have solid reach and solid normals with his Guandao, having some projectile options aswell. Overall a standard shoto.

Ricardo: Big Brother of the Middle, first noteable member we get to see of the finger (Aside from Tanya, being ex-Middle), he has an overwhelming presence. Ricardo would be a very powerful big body, getting stonger as he gets hit, with lots of super armour attacks, and extremely powerful grabs.

Xichun: Noteable ally of Limbus Company, and new hierarch of H corp, Xichun would be a very mobile character, working like a hit-and-run type. She'd definitely have some form of command movement to help her mobility.

Sancho: I'm going with Sancho over Don (LC) because I think she'd have alot more potential for an interesting kit, along with being a better representative of Bloodfiends (Elena being more of a distortion). Sancho would be a generalist, comfortable at any point on the screen.

~ DLC Pass 3 ~

Jae Heon: "Second Violin" of the ensemble, what better archetype for the Puppeteer than a puppet character? Jae Heon would act sort of like a setup zoner, making space for him to set up his puppets, which he can use to attack.

Rose: Originally this spot was going to Zilu, but I realised I was giving alot of spots to H corp characters, and nothing to W corp, one of the most important corps in the story. So this spot goes to Rose, L3 captain of the W corp cleanup team. She'd be a resource based rushdown character.

Meursault: At the point of writing, we have yet to see what The Gaze Bearing has in store, but from what we know right now, Meursault would be a slow, consistent close range attacker, hitting hard in his opponent's face, but not able to wildly throw out attacks like a gorilla.

Olga: Appearing in both Ruina and Limbus, and personal friends with Myo. Olga would be a unique rushdown, with the ability to put her specials on cooldown so she can cancel into other specials, allowing her to put up a heavy offense.

Kong Qiu: Last of the H corp rep, commander of the Mao, Kong Qiu brings in representation for the heishou. Kong Qiu would have strong fundamentals, but truly thrives in controlling the screen by fighting along side the mao branch, and his main partner in battle, Zilu.

~ DLC Pass 4 ~

Bamboo Hatted Kim: He was one of the most popular general reception characters, and now he's gotten his spotlight in Limbus, BHK would be a parry focused character, potentially having multiple types of parries depending on what he'd defending against.

Gloria: The second index rep, a much more devout follower than Yan, Gloria would be tasked with performing specific moves by her prescripts, and be able to inflict special effects with her attacks and grabs.

Sweeper: The image is specifically Valerie, but this spot is for any generic sweeper. They've been in every PM game so far, along side Distortion Detective, and they appear in swarms for an hour every night. The sweeper would be a life-steal character, being able to regain HP through getting off a command grab.

Dias: We haven't seen much of Dias in combat yet, but she's been instrumental to the story, constantly working in the background, and leading the Udjat. She could summon Udjat members to attack for her, setting up for her to continue her offense.

Baral/Claw: For the last DLC character, it would need to be someone BIG, and I think the best option would be someone from the head, the best option being a Claw. The one named Claw we know is Baral, but any Claw works here. He'd be a dangerous strike-throw character, forcing the opponent to guess right, or tank a ton of damage. Serum W would be prime Raging Demon material.

Let me know what you think, who would you swap out for who? or how do you think specific characters would play?
