what’s the biggest thing your local town/community could do that would actually help your business grow?

Not generic advice — real local things.

Examples:

  • better community events?
  • easier visibility?
  • more walkable downtowns?
  • local discovery?
  • less chain competition?
  • parking?
  • stronger “shop local” culture?
  • better social/community platforms?

Curious what small business owners genuinely feel is missing at the local level.

What’s one thing your town desperately needs but still doesn’t have?

What’s one thing your town desperately needs but still doesn’t have?

Could be restaurants, coffee shops, gyms, parks, activities, grocery stores, late-night food, community spaces. anything.

Feels like every NJ town has that one thing residents keep asking for.

Curious what people think their town is missing most.

Building a platform for residents to shape their towns — looking for honest feedback & early users

I’ve been working on a project called MyTown Pulse and wanted to share it here to get honest feedback from people outside my immediate area.

The idea started from a pretty simple observation:
Most towns don’t really have a modern place where residents can openly share:

  • what they feel is missing locally
  • what businesses/services they want
  • recommendations
  • local opinions
  • community conversations
  • ideas to improve their township

At the same time, local businesses often struggle to genuinely connect with nearby residents unless they spend heavily on ads or social media.

So I started building MyTown Pulse — a community-driven platform where:

  • residents can discuss what they want to see in their towns
  • people can share local ideas, feedback, and recommendations
  • businesses can introduce themselves locally
  • local businesses can share services, updates, and offers with nearby communities

The goal is to make towns feel more connected and give residents more of a voice in shaping their local communities.

Website:
https://mytownpulse.com/

iOS App:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mytown-pulse/id6760909549

Still very early-stage, and I’m mainly looking for:

  • honest feedback
  • early adopters
  • ideas/features people would actually use
  • thoughts on how this could become genuinely useful for communities across the US

A few things I’d genuinely love feedback on:

  • Would you use something like this for your town?
  • What features would make it valuable long term?
  • What do existing local/community platforms get wrong?
  • What would make you trust and actively participate in a platform like this?

Open to all feedback positive or critical. Trying to build this community-first local app.
