Spellplague lore questions

I'm working on a character concept that I like the backstory of and I may turn into either the main character I play as or as a backup if I'm ever in a campaign. I want their backstory to be as compatable with the lore as possible but part of it involves encountering a creature with an ability that had a major change between 3e and 5e; from what I understand a lot of the major changes between 3e and 5e was due to the spellplague (or more accurately the changes between 3e and 4e but obviously extending to 5e). However the lore about it seems a bit dense so I have a couple major questions about it:

  1. Did it just change how magic/spells work or did it apply to other things as well? Would creature abilities that aren't directly associated with magic have been changed from it?
  2. Were there exceptions to it and if so what prompted those exceptions? Geography? Species? And if there were individuals who still retained one or more features they possessed before it could those features be passed down and/or recessive?

Dagger-using Eldritch Knight?

I'm working on an EK build and want to go into throwing weapons (taking advantage of weapon bonding) but also prefer dex over strength for several reasons. The only real option for that is daggers but it seems weird to have them on a fighter, especially considering that they use one weapon mastery and fighters get access to multiple. Has anyone tried/thought of doing an EK dagger build and did it work out well?

Are Yakfolk always evil?

I just learned about the "dark gifts" from Ravenloft and want to make a *character who has the "symbiotic being" gift but instead of being a host I want to play as the being and have my host be the NPC. The problem is there are only two creatures I know of in DND that can possess people without high-level magic (possession tends to work slightly differently from the SB gift but that's easy to handwave due to the host being more or less willing) and I'm leaning towards Yakfolk mainly since I feel like roleplaying as someone not used to having a human/human-like body would be more interesting then roleplaying as someone who's dead and has unfinished business; plus the way I see the possession working has a lot of similarities to 3e yakfolk posession. However most sources I've seen say that Yakfolk are inherently evil and may not even have the free will to not be; would it be going too against lore to have one that's kind of an anomaly (which may be the reason they are exiled and need to hide in a host) and doesn't have to be evil?

*I don't know if I'll ever actually play them as I have another character I prefer to play as and I could see dark gifts being a lot to explain to other players in oneshots but this could make for a good backup in a campaign and is just fun to brainstorm.

Is 14-17 AC enough for a level 10 light cleric?

I signed up for a oneshot in a few days and ever since I started getting into DND I've been wanting to make a character as similar to a "Prior of the Ori" from SG1 as possible so I decided to do that here. The problem is that they don't really use armor which from what I understand is pretty essential for Clerics; the DM isn't allowing multiclassing so I can't take a Monk dip and I'm guessing they would say no to the "Cleric unarmored defense" homebrew as well. Since I want to dump strength I was thinking of taking either MI Druid or MI Wizard as an Origin feat but when looking at 1'st level Wizard spells I remembered that Mage Armor existed; would that combined with a bit of dex be comparable to wearing armor?

Edit: Forgot to mention I plan on taking Shield of Faith as well so more like 14-19 AC.

Edit 2: Have been convinced to also take the Shield spell as part of my second Origin Feat.

About a year ago there were some management changes at my work and they were cutting hours and laying people off so I decided to work with a job finding service to find either a different job or a part-time one to make up for lost hours.

They ended up finding me a part-time job and just about everyone thinks it was a good idea to pursue it since if it leads to a full-time job the organization has a lot of benefits for working there and will pay more then my current job. I was told yesterday that I was accepted for a part-time position and my orientation day will be in late May/early June.

The problem is my current job has actually been giving me decent hours lately and I haven't mentioned that I'm even looking for another job. My second job seems willing to negotiate about what days I'll be working but orientation is going to on a day that I'm working and I'm unsure how to tell them the news that I'll want to leave early that day and may have to work fewer hours from then on; I know I put myself in this position but I honestly wasn't expecting to get this second job and the organisation that helped me search for another job said they would help negotiate with my current employer about when I'm able to work. Should I tell them about the second job ASAP or ask for PTO and see if I can get help talking to them about time off afterwards? And if I do tell them now how do I approach them without being extremely nervous about saying I have another job?
